I grew to hate Sultans of Swing after it got played to death on the radio, but someone recently sent me this flamenco version and I rediscovered a song I now love:

Another big Aussie hit in 1969. Apologies for my Aussie parochialism but here, in my opinion, this is a better version of Dear Prudence than The Beatles'. This is by Doug Parkinson in Focus. I have no doubt you'll disagree with my sentiments. Doug Parkinson's vocals are superb and much more ballsy and emotional than Lennon's (....ducking for cover!).

At some point in your life you may wish for more banjo.

Sting and Robert Downey Jr - Driven to Tears Thumbs UpClap Downey Jr. sings most of it, thus qualifies as covering a song, I think.  Big smile

Three epic blues covers!

Alvin Lee's version of Sonny Boy Williamson is monumental:

Eric Clapton and Duane Allman's towering take of Big Bill Broonzy:

Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac show their reverence for Elmore James (and don't even need amps or mics!):

to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...
