Wolf City is brilliant, but I would say that Vive la Trance is the "last" of their Krautrock records. Feels very much like a sister album to Wolf City. The song orientated structure melts together with that fleeting feel of the Kosmische spirit. I just listened to Carnival in Babylon before and I just love Hawknose Harlequin.

On another note: Does anybody here own Popol Vuh´s In den Gärten Pharaohs? The way the title track incorporates the sound of water at first - and then again at the end, is a stroke of genius. Quite different than say how Neu! used water in their albums - sounds more like waves hitting a beach to me.
Anyway I love both artists.

I'll take your word for it on that "Vive La Trance" as i don't own it.I was told by someone who's really into these guys that "Wolf City" was in his opinion where that Krautrock spirit ended. So thanks for the opinion.
Yes i love that POPOL VUH album. There's something really special about Florian and i think my favs all have Conny Veit on guitar for some reason.

That someone wouldn´t be Moshkito by any chanceLOL - Anyway, you should try Vive la Trance. I think it´s a very fine album that somehow gets lost in between a multitude of great records they released during the wonderful 70s.
And I agree with you about Florian. Even before he started making "yogi" albums pondering the universe and our human spirituality, he was indeed making music that sounded so special and yeah spiritual.
Connie Veit just so happens to be one of my fave guitarist to come out of Germany alongside Manuel Göttsching and Weinzieri. I really like what he did in Gila as well.

No it wasn't MoshkitoLOL. I should give that album a chance because if it's anything like "Wolf City" it will be good.Listening to "Yeti" right now.How good is this ! Listening to the Yeti Improv right now.I think i would rank Yeti third behind Phallus Dei and Tanzer Der Lemmingz as far as my fav Amon Duul II albums go.Heck any of those three are amazing!
You mentioned Gila and i have to say that's one of my all time favourite Krautrock bands.

Although they look like fossils by now, I have to agree with you that Psychedelic Suite is excellent. I was going to say something about red wine and age, but you probably catch my drift.
Speaking of that suite:

^Yep, i think it´s something to do with that as well. People tend to need art work, before they´ll pass the music for an "album". Part of me thinks that we should list it on PA with a picture (maybe the picture from their homepage - that sits beside the actual release, when you click it.), and another part just thinks it should be included without art work. All in all it´s about the music and how it makes you feel, and like I pointed out before- The Amon Düül ll experience hasn´t been this on fire and Kraut in a very long time.
Glad to see somebody notice this out of the blue recordClap

Listening to album now.. and posting comments where there are none. They havent sold out have they! Very strong Kraut prog and grows on you like Magma.

Why isn't this 2009 album on progarchives yet?

It's not even listed on the RYM site which usually has everything on it. Maybe it's because it wasn't released as a physical product. There's not even cover art for it. I'm not really sure other than that.

Listened to ALCATRAZ today. The one called "Vampire State Building".Anyway i love that opening track called "Simple Headphone Mind" it's 10 minutes of bliss for me.I'll always remember the very first time i heard it and i had to rush over to make sure i hadn't put in the wrong cd.It sounded like NUCLEUS from 1970.Piano and flute led and jazzy.I'm thinking to myself that i know this track,i've heard it before somewhere.Anyway the song changes but that theme keeps coming back and it's fantastic. I still haven't found a song that it sounds like but man it sounds familiar.Just a great album all the way through.

Ahem, part of me misses an artwork - call me old fashioned...
Anyways, this album rocks!!!! Damn, I would never had thought in a million years - they still were able to jam like this! On their homepage, they state something about this not being 70s sounding and Kraut, but to tell you the truth, I don´t think they´ve sounded this Kraut since Vive Le Trance, and I happen to like Nada Moonshine very much. This is really a return to form, and Renate sounds just as powerful and witchey as she´s always done! If anything, I think this record exudes the same kind of awe for music they seemed to have during the start of the 70s - that sense of everything goes, as long as we keep ourselves deeply emotionally involved with the magic universe of music, or something like that. There is a new found urge to freak out, which you´ll hear frequently on the album - especially on the last track, but in fact spread out on most of the album. If you like Amon Düül ll of the good ol´ days, you should definitely check out this record! Just look at the line-up:

Line-up:
- Chris Karrer / guitar, violin, vocals
- John Weinzierl / guitars, synth, vocals
- Renate Knaup-Krotenschwanz / vocals
- Lother Meid / bass, vocals
- Danny Fichelscher / drums
- Jan Kahlert / percussion, vocals

Track List:
01. Mambo La Libertad – 8:34
02. Du Kommst Ins Heim – 9:23
03. Stil Standing – 8:15
04. Psychedelic Suite – 26:01

No i didn't know about this so thanks ! Great lineup here too.

The information about the Utopia album in this article is incorrect. Utopia was the result of a split; there had been fights and threats with guns and knives within the band, and so while one half set off to record "Wolf City" the other went to record the Utopia album. They did, however, use the same studio, and so it came to pass that they made peace again, and all musicians played on both albums. And one track ("Deutsch Nepal") was loved so much by both factions that they both wanted to have it on their album.
...

And in an email from John on the website ... he called this album 'b*****d" ... (no kidding) and would not discuss it.

The version of "Deutsch Nepal" is hilarious ... the voice is speeded up and is off the record falsetto and playing both of these back to back will get one laughing a lot!

I personally liked the album and there is at least one piece from there that Renate redid later, and had a different version of it (different song, but same subject) in the "Hijack" album.

It is a very nice album and deserves to be distributed ... but I doubt I will let go of my LP!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
