Florian Schneider's flute, Klaus Dinger's motorik drumming, Ralf Hutter's hammond effects were for me personally the main sounds of early Kraftwerk.

They did some awesome live stuff in 1971 with Michael Rother on guitar, with a hard, distorted sound.
I love what Rother did later, quite different for sure Wink some call it musak but for me it's beautiful music

Mellotron, Mani is a monster on the drums. I love that his drumming is very loose, but relentless at the same time Evil Smile. He drums like he's stoned, maybe he is?? Because of you guys I'm listening to a lot more Amon Duul II, and now listening to Wolf City.

My favorites in Krautrock is CAN, Faust, and Neu!. Speaking of Popol Vuh, recently I have acquired the taste for PV. I'm listening to In Den Garten Pharoahs, and it is better now than when I first heard it. I guess I didn't have the patience for that ambient kraut sound. I started getting into the more ambient side of Kraut after listening to, and really liking Traummachine by Ash Ra Tempel.

Thanks - I really enjoy talking to you as well, just donīt give me anymore nightmares with little girls running around swinging large tools in them, alright?LOL

I watched those clips as well and they were pretty sweet Monsieur Wrinkler. Which bands are your faves from Kraut anyhoo? Have you boarded the Yogi rides of Popol Vuh yet fx?

That video you posted of Amon Duul II really surprised me i must admit.I was expecting to see a group of half-baked Germans looking all disheveled.Instead they were very professional in every way possible and most importantly they played their asses off.Amazing band !
The only thing i can think of as far as my head goes is either that i did way too many drugs when i was younger or maybe it was that time sitting in the tent my parents had set up in the backyard one summer, my sister could see my head from the outside making a bulge in the tent and went into the garage and got my dad's hammer and proceeded to hit me Pingwith it.My sister was as mean as they come.I was only 9 or 10 at the time and probably would have retaliated if i wasn't crying so hard.So yeah there very well could be a problem or two up there.Ermm

I love that Malesch album, but more than often I tend to grab for the pink oneBig smile

I live on the 12th floor in some apartment, that doesnīt inspire loud music after 10-11 at night - and thatīs pretty much about the time, when I start to get my freak onThumbs Down
Been out of electricity for nearly a month now - and Iīve been living with my folks. Got it back here the other day, and let me just tell you how much Iīve missed visual confirmation, when I go out to have a pee in the mornings...
One good thing about the absence of power, has been the focus on jamming. My roommate plays the guitar and
I play the drums. Heīs got an old western guitar and I mostly play African/Indian percussion, but it sounds very much like Kraut. We know each other so well now, that you develop almost psychic abilities - and youīll always know what to do - what sounds apt at the right time and so forth. We had a powerful jam here the other night. Problem was that it happened at 4 in the morning after a couple of beers, and I think we were just a tiny bit too loudLOL
Oh well - weīve got Arabian, Senegalese and Moroccan neighbors and the day after - the ones I did pop into didnīt hear anything - and the one guy from Morocco just thought I was great with a clay-drum...

That Osmose album still eludes me, and now I have to start at the University again - meaning Iīll be using all my money on books and transportDead
Iīm gonna listen to it on YouTube instead... See whatīs what!

My Brother-in law lives just out of town in an old farm house so noise isn't a concern.LOL Like the guys from KRAAN way back when, only those guys practised continually.Good luck at university Guld,it is that time of year sadly.I hate when summer ends.Unhappy

Thank you John - Iīm going tomorrow and it seems weird not to be able to read what you want to, but rather having to read what youīre toldTongue
Good thing about summer is that it keeps coming back in your face - just like a weather revolution you can count onSmile
Iīll bet you have some wonderful scenery up there in Canada! I often use nature and my surroundings as a backdrop to Krautrock. Seems very natural to me - the music very often corresponds beautifully to streams, woods, beaches, desolate fields, flocks of birds or just your hair being blown in front of your eyes. I get this mostly with Kraut, Psych and the Electronic genre though...

BTW I just got back into Älgarnas Trädgaard. Their debut seems very much like a Krautrock masterpiece to me - with some weird folk, psychedelics, RIO and electronics. I love that album. I remember getting it back when I was 15, and didnīt know anything about prog or genres for that matter - this album took me completely off guard, and the first time I listened to it - I absolutely hated itLOL I listened to it again one of the first times I ever tried some of that buddha stuff, if you know what I meanBig smile - and suddenly I found myself questioning, if it indeed was the same record I had been listening to 3 years beforehand.... Havenīt looked back since, and no need for buddha these days to get into the groove of the music - itīs just there.
Hope you taste some of that Indian summer - but if you donīt just pop on the equivalent Doors track.

We are definetly on the same page when it comes to nature and Krautrock my friend. I'm fortunate to be close to the beach and there are all kinds of nature trails through the many forests around here.Me and buddha aren't as tight as we used to be but we do meet up once in a while like last weekend.Wink
Funny you mention Algarnas Tradgaard because about a month ago i listened to this and i'm listening to that first song thinking wtf?! LOL The album's title means "The Future Is A Hovering Ship Anchored In The Past".How's that for a mind-benderLOL.
I got Agitation Free on right now "Malesch"  to be exact. So spacey and out there.

@Mellotron Storm:

Kriedler and To Roccoco Rot are from the 90s wave of post-rock/electronic bands that update the motorik sound with a new and interesting sheen, and they're German too!!!
