Who played bass actually?

The EP was released in june 2001, and Vänska was fired some time after their last concert of 2001, which was in mid-september, acording to nightwish.com.
http://nightwish.com/en/band/biography

Also, Wikipedia credits Vänska for cover design and playing bass, and claims that he left the band after this release. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over_the_Hills_and_Far_Away_(album)

Which ones contain 4 tracks and which ones are 10-tracks editions?

There are several editions with different live tracks and amount of live tracks. The only one with 4 tracks (I believe) is the Spinefarm Finnish Edition.

All editions can be found here (scroll down): http://www.allmusic.com/album/r714739

I belive the cover on the enitial entry on PA is from the German Edition. Both nightwish.com (changing the language from English, Finnish etc. to German) and allmusic.com (the 'German Bonus Tracks'-page) confirms this.

... the title of the album by Barbara Thompson http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=27008
poses a kind of a problem. It is correct, but much better known with another title "Nightwatch". What should we do?

It could be modified to:

Pure Fantasy - Nightwatch
or
Pure Fantasy / Nightwatch

.. the CD releases info is messy in the internet. It seems to be a quite popular CD which is sold through supermarkets in the UK (!!!)..

??? (CD, 1997, remastered)
Schott (CD, 2002, remastered)
2007 is also mentioned for the new release

Some info can be found here http://www.cka-net.com/acatalog/info_TM-NIGHTWATCH.html
"'Nightwatch', originally issued in 1983 and unavailable for some years, was completely re-mastered from the original digital recordings and released on CD in 1997."

Added an EP which was already there (in my defence, I didn't see the one that was already there because it had a different album cover than my copyTongue) Please delete.

... the album Orphan Project II should probably be moved to EP/single, as it is just 19 minutes long... what do you think?

... the album by Omit:   Retraction  is very short, is currently listed as studio album, and should better be listed as single / EP. Thanks.

... was a bit too fast with Ryo Okumoto's Solid Gold. Sorry.

please add:
Vivid Sound (CD, re-issue 2009, VSCD3375)

please add:
1. Step in the space
2. Freedom
3. Secret
4. Eccentric love
5. Solid gold
6. Sensitive dreamer
7. Fly away to the sky
8. Endless trip

These are the tracks of the CD. Not sure if tracks on the LP were identical... perhaps some of our Japanese friends could help. Hard to find...

^ I think leave it as it is because it's not their compilation. Or delete despite the fact that the song can't be found on other albums.

Is this track on any other album by the band?

Anyway, we wouldn't allow "Greatest Christmas Songs Ever" under Tull's discography just because it includes "Ring Out Solstice Bells", so logic dictates that this either gets moved or deleted.

But if this is the only instance of this song.......hmmm..tricky.

It has 4 tracks, their description from album's info:

Track 1 by One Second Riot (France; punk/rock/noise)
Track 2 by Abronzius (France; ambient, gothic rock)
Track 3 by Year of No Light
Track 4 by Kill The Thrill

Only Year of No Light are on PA. I don't know how proggy other bands are. Looks like V/A or, more likely, an item to be deleted.

If it's a split with other bands on PA, then it goes under the band named first on the cover. That said, "splits" are usually with just two bands, a four bands disc could be a sampler. Food for thought if such a disc appear, but with all bands being PA bands.

Shouldn't it be listed as Various Artist Sampler?

Not sure to be honest. What is the precedent for this situation?
