These two bands actually gang-banged a bit at the time, and Gila's second album, based on Dee Brown's book about the slaughtering of the Indians in America, 'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee', does indeed also feature the pastoral piano stylings of Florian Fricke, head honcho of Popol Vuh.
I'm still pretty new to the Gila album.  It sounds really cool but it has yet to really dig under my skin.  Wasn't aware of their kinship to Popol Vuh - another band I need to spend a lot more time with.
