Fripp.  The real "God of the Guitar."  To hell with all the other posers.

Pages guitar talent lies in his arrangements rather than his playing.  Fripp is at least as good in arrangements, but is a much better player.  Both have their quirks: Page has his infamous slop (which I wish he would not have done), Fripp goes for whiney tones (which sometimes makes me leave the room).  In the final assessment, Fripp rips Page to shreds.

oooh I don't know about that--  the fact that Fripp can play blues, along with every other guitar player in the world with a few years (or less) of experience, doesn't mean he can play like Page by a long shot.  Let's give credit where it's due please:  Page is a Blues master, his tattered slop just part of the magic, and he and Plant wouldn't have it any other way.  Is Rembrandt a 'better' painter than Van Gogh?   Is gourmet dining 'better' than southern barbecue?

I really don't like it when people are comparing listening to music and a plate of food. There's nothing abstract about food, and the only things you can actually evaluate is texture, taste and how healthy it is! And "taste", obviously, is a question of taste!

Music is much more abstract and communicative, and there's almost a limitless amount of elements you could evaluate. There's emotion, energy, originality, movement, structure, harmony, rhythm, intensity and the aforementioned texture and taste... just to name a few! We think in all of these levels. To say my musical enjoyment comes down to taste is an insult to the way the mind works!

As good as Fripp is, Page IMO plays the guitar better and with more emotion which beats technicality any day.

Jimmy Page for me.  I find Fripp's playing spectacularly uninteresting.

I prefer Fripp. I can't really say that he's better than Page just that I like his style more. Plus I don't play the instrument. If it were Fripp vs. Blackmore there would be a problem.

I didn't like the technical aspect of Page's playing. On some live-concerts he plays in wrong keys. Fripp's guitar sound isn't that good, but at least it's original.

Jimmy Page for me! I'm usually against Led Zeppelin in the polls, but when it comes to King Crimson, they beat LZ strongly in this term. Big smile

Tonight on the PROGBERt REPORt

a NOOB (laugh trackLOL) just started another poll to challenge Robert Fripp's "King of Prog" status. Now obviously, this poll will not make it to two "Page"s, that is, unless "Page"aninio steps in and posts a reply.  (laugh trackBig smile) Sorry, Jimmy, I can't help play with your last name. (laugh trackLOL)

Not to be a band-wagon man, but I have to say this is a no contest.  Fripp is just better all-around.  Plus, I've never really liked Zeppelin.

That 's because polls have no points (good thing I didn't typo POLES! Tuzvihar would be not too pleasedLOL ) .

Any poll that uses the term BETTER needs to be edited to FAVORITE , like that we can have points!ClapClapClap

You should know me better by now David, I never ever use "better" in any of my posts , EVER.  That being said , I prefer butter whether in gourmet dining or having a 'cue.Big smile  33 years in the restaurant biz does that to you.
Shocked  Having seen both live , in my opinion , I believe that Fripp is extremely diversified and constantly invigorating while Page is just a legend (though no where near Clapton or the phenomenal Beck) that has been living off his early 70s fame. Confused His tattered slop is exactly part of his magic but it's been a while since.........Both are weirdos though.....
