So got back to the actual school campus at around 11am I believe, and then we set up our music room so we could have space for anybody that wanted to come and watch us jam. We had about 40 or so people in there (bear in mind we are pretty much the 'odd' people at school, so the 'popular people' don't really like us lol), and we proceeded to do various chord progression jams, with me and my bass played billy trading solos and the like. SInce the only people that were in here were people that actually wanted to listen and watch, I let loose with the showmanship, playing the head, and even repeatedly tripping a girl over in the crowd . There was even a ridiculous mosh when we began to play a rendition of the Trooper by Iron Maiden, several peolple seemed to be getting hurt, which might be a good thing lol.
An awesome day, yeahThumbs%20Up

I gotta actually go soon, but while you're here, I might mention that I upgraded from crappy 10 watt practice to a Behringer V-Amp 2 amp modeller/multi effect device on the 13th of this month (Tuesday for me).

It's half the price of a Line 6 Pod 2.0, and yet it sounds just as good if not even betterBig%20smile
The cool thing is, the high gain amp model, which me being a metal/shred dude I use a lot, are the best sounding amp models on the unit.

I'm looking forward to the 2nd half Big%20smile. Sounds like it went pretty good so far, besides the amplifier situation that is...it seems like you did what you had to do to get a good sound anyway.

Lol, damn I was meant to make a reply yesterday too, but I got caught up in  study.

Well yeah harking back to the 2nd of May nowTongue, it's basically this thing where my school celebrates it's birthday (I don't see why, our school is nothing specialLOL) and there are people from all the year levels performing to the whole school. Since our school is divided into two juinor campuses (Where the year 7-9s go) and senior (10-12), there are about 900 or so kids, and since we can't all fit in the hall of one campus, we go down to the nearest town hall about 4kms away from school
First up, we did Santana-Moonflower, which was all good, until I found out I had been using an incorrect transcriptionAngryOuch so I had to get a crash course that same morning before the performance, literally less than 2 hours before. So on stage I had a stand with a chord chart type thing, but the hilarious thing was, when the curtain opended, it knocked the stand overLOL so as I putting it back up, I was laughing pretty hard and so were the rest of the band.
As it happens when you only learn the correct chords that day, I screwed up at some points in the song, and towards the end we made some obvious errors, but it didn't niggle me.
And when the curtain closed, the stand was knocked over again and when the curtain closed and the applause was over I was still laughing behind the curtain, so I imagine people in the audience would have heard thatLOL.

We had to wait a little while to play Welcome To Bucketheadland. Since the school amps, solid state Randalls didn't have enough gain I had brought along my Boss DS-1 (Which a kid at school gave to me for freeBig%20smile) and my wah wah pedal with build in boost through the preamp. This time around, my playing was very tight, and the crowd loved my crazy performance, and my solo went off pretty much exact as wellBig%20smile.

There was the first half of the day, I'll post the second half later, since I have to get ready to go to the city to buy new guitar leads, strings and a multi effects/amp modeller device.

As for skill, I can imagine you're about equal to me, but then again, I've never actually tried to play Cliffs Of Dover from the start to end, but I might give that a go later this year.
I'm working on a Buckethead song right now, and I've just about nearly nailed the main guitar solo from Pull Me Under. I've got a performance for school next friday, but  have run into some complications, due to our rhythm guitarist completely dropping out of school, so we have a whole week to teach our replacement dude the stuff, not sure how well that will go, but I'm hopeful at leastTongue

How did everything go?..and did you play Pull me Under?

Wow, you can play Cliffs Of Dover. That song is hellishly difficult, but then again I've never really tried to play it. It would be awesome if you got around to making a youtube video of yourself playing one day.
Once I get a camera I'll be glad too, also it's not as difficult as it sounds really. Just by the way you talk about music and your guitar playing I can tell you're a better guitarist/musician than me, I don't know a lick of theory. You would deffinitley be able to pull of cliffs.

My school benefit concert was a success, Wedding Nails went very well (I constructed my own solo considering SW's isn't the best IMO) and Crowd Chant went pretty good, only about half of the audience was participating because there was some old hags LOL but I got some really good feedback from some of my classmates.

I did however get a lot more feedback when I played "Cliffs of Dover" for the Variety Show in January which is before I even joined the forum.

I'm going to do some more recording over the weekend probably, I'm looking forward to that.

My sweeping is coming along even moreSmile My sweeping just always sucked, but I can actually hear the individual notes in the sweep now.
Got in 3 hours today, mainly working around chrod progression where I can fit in diminished arpeggios.

EDIT: I managed another 4 hours today. I've been trying out some 3 note per string pentatonic patterns lately, mainly in A minor. So far it's only at slow tempos and I've been trying it in string skipping as well.

I got in 3 hours today (it's about 10 minutes to midnight here in Melbourne), mainly jamming over chord progressions really. I wasn't sure whether we are meant to post everyday, I was just kinda always waiting for you to reply first before I made my next post here.

I have been working on my sweeping for the past week or so and it really has been picking up. No new computer yet, I currently still am recording and writing. Still lots of hockey, but at the same time still lots of guitar.

Me, I started school again this weekDead But I've been doing my best to get 3 hours in a night.
My string skipping is really really happening now, in alternate picking. The sweep picking just doesn't improve as fast as I want it to unforunately.
Other than that, I haven't been jamming with friends at all lately, more just creating backing tracks in guitar pro to solo and improvise over.

Good news, I am getting a new computer sometime this/next week so I will actually report in everyday again.

What are the specifications for your new computer going to be?

If I PM my email address to you, can you email the songs to me?

I will most deffinitley e-mail them to you when everything is finalized. As far as my computer I am not sure exactly what I will be getting but I'm hoping to get it soon.

Cool, well I guess no point PMing my email adress now, I'll wait till your new computer arrives.

In other news, I am playing a benefit show for Darfur (my school is hosting it), my set will be:
1. Porcupine Tree - Wedding Nails
2. An original of my own
3. Joe Satriani - Crowd Chant (hopefully there will be some participants) LOL

I wish the set could be longer but there's a "time restriction" Dead

AwesomeThumbs%20Up I wish I could do a benefit show like that, but at the moment, I don't think there is anywhere around Melbourne that I know of offering something like that, unless perhaps I ask my school if I could do one as well, cos apart from music, I'm fairly into politics, international events and history too, so I've sorta come to realise how being a musician can be have a positive impact on people's lives. It's a really good feeling knowing your a musician that can make a difference, we really do need less selfish people in the world, kudos to you dudeClap
I haven't heard Wedding Nails yet (the only PT album I have is Fear Of a Blank Planet), but I assume if's a cool song anyway. Crowd Chant, woa, I seriously thought no one but Satch would do that, but hey, hopefully the crowd has some Satch fans that have seen his Satriani Live! DVD alreadyTongue
Good luck with the show.

Thanks very much Big%20smile. The show will be next Monday. I have been practicing a lot lately and writing some new material, trying to record, AND all the hockey that I'm involved in has prevented me from updating with everyone since April 4.

So how has everyone been doing the last couple of days?

Well before I forget, yesterday I played from 11:30 till 2am, actually working more on rhythm guitar than normal, and of course going through the usual stuff.
I recently got Guitar Pro 5, so I've been making backing tracks to solo over, which is handy since my bass player friend Billy got a girlfriend and hasn't been home (his obviously been at his GFs house, mind you her house is a 7 minute walk from mine, and billy lives 15 minutes away, so she lives about halfway between us), so I haven't been able to jam with him since last the 28th of March. Damn it, why couldn't he get a GF that lived further away so they aren't always seeing each otherUnhappy (and yes, all 3 of us go to the same school, garghhhhh!).
