My biggest surprice is that Peter Gabriel is doing rather bad, nothing in top 200, and only 2 albums on the list. Thought he would be up there in top 20

WOW a really great list! very interesting, nice work!
but for me the best album ever is "an evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess" although its not really prog and just instrumental... and many of the mentioned albums i have to listen to.. |

I've got my copy of the full list, thanks!
One suggestion for next time if and only if this isn't too much trouble (which it may very well be). It would be neat to get album year and PA ranks added to the list.

If you'd like, go to this year's voting page and submit a list. Sure it's past due but I haven't finished the results yet.

I agree - is there an attachment I can print so I can mark off each album I already own or those I want to get later. I am serious about this!

That is interesting. I wish someone would reformat the entire list into one post.
Thanks to all that worked on counting the votes.

Disappointed to see Rick Wakeman 6 wives of Henry VIII in there no matter how low! worst type of prog. I just hate it.
But amused to see old Henry had at least 10 wives I didn't know about - History teachers eh! liars.
Or is this the remastered double CD epic rehashed by that ivory tinkler extreme!?

Looking forward to your analysis of this year's list, which is coming along far better than....er....other projects. Great to read, until you made that one comment about Radiohead that invalidates everything else

I know I'm late to the party, what with this year's poll already in the works, but I discuss last year's a little here if anyone is interested in having a look. I'm a longtime prog fan and have been lurking on these boards for a while, though this is my very first post here. I don't pretend to have written a masterpiece but I think the above blog entry raises a couple of interesting points.

If you think this is interesting, just wait for this year's list, which is currently under tabulation.

i have only recently joined the forum, i have a nostalgic interest in prog stuff and was interested in what this list produced, quite nice to see some Elp there, however i am surprised that The Moody Blues, 'Days of future passed' was not there, as although a somewhat 'patchy' album it was certainly innovative, pssbly the first 'rock symphony'?
I am a huge Beatles fan but i find it hard to hear albums such as Rubber soul, Abbey road or The white album as Prog rock. And as good as the album was particularly for a debut (best ever debut album?)
Hendrix's 'Are you experienced' a prog rock album, ummm, i thought it was basically a collection of good rock/bluesy songs! (with some quite good guitar work!!)
also i think Yes's Fragile a better album than Close to the edge but hey!
Cheers elpless
