Yes, this is mean, but the original vocals are inevitable part of prog. Personally, I like all these guys mentioned in a poll, but just wanted to theorize with conneisseurs of prog.

Saying that Steve Howe has a bad voice is llike saying Bob Dyl;an had a bad voice. In Dylan's case, the songs spoke for themselves. In Howe's case, the guitar playing speaks for itself. He did do an album of Dylan covers which, IMO, is very good by the way. I guess he knew his limits or in some way related to Dylan as some sort of vocally challenged brother.
Howe does hold up harmony chores on Yes albums as well as live where some supporting players will not even try. However buried in the mix or mandatory, Howe's backing vocals have been part of the Yes sound for lo these many years. Yes ultimately may not sound the same without him.
Not a good singer. Should have guest vocalist on solo albums. Hard to defend him but he has the creds for me to try.
This is a mean poll.

Man you sure hate Steve Howe's voice! Is he that bad?? I'm gettin' goosebumps...I thought Yes was perfect in every sense but now I guess all bands have their flaws

Jon Camp of Renaissance.. He spoils a lot of teriffic Renaisance music by just opening his throath, he should have stayed with his bass guitar.

Someone earlier expressed concern about Peter Gabriel's voice without insturments behind him---listen to "Family Snapshot" or "Here Come's the Flood" he sounds just as good here
Geddy Lee is more difficult to pin down... give the live version of "Resist" from R 30 a shot
My Least favorite are...
Steve Walsh (NOW) - hes lost his voice and thinks he can still belt out "Miracles out of Nowhere"
Ray Wislon makes me want to beat my face in with a sledge hammer
(In case you dont kno hes the lead singer for Genesis on Calling All Stations

I voted Howe but he is not a real singer, only third voice of Yes.
He sings very very badly for sure!
The others I have some difficulties with are La Brie, Geddy Lee but it really depends on the songs...
One of the finest voice is Mr Sadler of Saga...incredible voice.

I don't like Drama much, but mainly it is because Jon Anderson's voice is not on it, not because the replacement singer was bad. Others can come and go, but Yes without Anderson (love him, or be perplexed by him!) isn't Yes is it.

That is very bad, perhaps you should vote someone else...... maybe Matthew Parmenter of Discipline for change (he sings beautifully though)....

Funny Gabriel alone appears on both the best and worst lists and i can see why.
At his best he is creative, varied and conveys tremendous emotion. Other singers can'd do what he does.
At his worst his elocution is dreadful , he sounds camp ( like an English public school boy )and can't hold a tune

I pick Frank Zappa as worst singer in prog.
Cheech and Chong would sound better. They're funnier too.
Zappa 's strength was composing and playing guitar.
