Hello I am new to the forum here and tried to search for the answer to this already, but sorry if it has been responded to before!

I would like to recommend Ghost (formerly Ghost BC) of Sweden to the forum under the category of Experimental/Post Metal. While some may state that the band takes on more of a pop/rock and role structure to the music, I find that the musical scope/range, technical ability, and mystic/eclectic nature allow for a unique classification. I did see the band addressed after the release of their first album and failed to join, however, with the more recent releases, I find that the progressive nature of the band is beyond merely a single song and is based on progression through albums. I think progressiveness and uniqueness between the songs on the album is just as important as having a 20-minute long epic. It goes against the prog archives nature to prevent a group that is reminiscent of dozens of different bands throughout time, and many of these are on the forum as well! Even bands already on the archives already such as Green Carnation and Soen have recently created on new music that is now reminiscent of the high quality productions of Ghost, with simpler structures and reduced song length. I think it is important to address this, thank you.

Two 2020 releases that I've only discovered here in 2021 that I think EVERYONE should know about and hear are:

The Oubliette by North Carolinian Chris Hathcock's prog metal band THE RETICENT. Perhaps the best concept album I've heard in the past decade, dedicated to the emotional expression of the sad descent through Alzheimer's Disease--this is an artistic masterpiece and an artwork that makes me proud to call myself a human being.

Am Ende der Welt by Ketil Vestrum Einarsen, Mattias Olsson, and Jacopo Holm-Lupo's latest incarnation of WESERBERGLAND. Incredible boundary-pushing music rendered by these lead-edge geniuses--a journey you will not soon forget!

Their both available to listen to for free on Bandcamp and I would urge you all to explore finding interviews with both Chris Hathcock and Ketil Vestrum Einarsen--they are very thought provoking, informative, even inspiring.

Marco Minnemann's storm of patterns would fit this both gorgeous sounding and super solid moto perpetuo / arpeggio line greatly ( check this into playing simulateously any fittingly recorded Minnemann solo, a sequence freely chosen from this one, for instance )

Otherwise let's not miss

I just want to recommend this guy's work, Takeaway;

Richard Palmer-James was one of the 4 original members of Supertramp, but is mostly known for his work with King Crimson.  He participated in writing masterpieces like "Starless". I would love to recommend him to the Prog-Related team, but I haven't found enough information about him I suppose. Well here goes it.

Hope you enjoy it.

I wanna recommend one of the most eclectic musicians i ever heard in my life. Sadly very underrated one. Clement Belio! And also his band Itzamna. Amazing progressive blend of mostly rock/metal/jazz/djazz also classical/folk/hip-hop/djent. If you wanna hear something very special and unique, try it out <3
Clement Belio - Patience (2019) - https://youtu.be/n1yRjfP4MfM
Clement Belio - Contrast (2014) - https://youtu.be/vadBSlqCHiU
///
Also Blumen, like Tigran Hamasyan but more prog rock. Pretty eclectic as well!
You can also find piano sheet music of his compositions on his channel if you wanna play some epic piano prog <3
///
More piano prog, but now more like Gleb Kolyadin stuff! Yvette Young - Piano EP.
I still have to listen her other albums though, they are pretty different from this EP.
///
SOME ANIME PROG!
Yasushi Ishii's OST for Hellsing is just amazing :3 Can't help but getting some King Crimson vibes from time to time, but more j rocky
And Co Shu Nie, they did some openings (Tokyo Ghoul, Psycho Pass...). I dont really like 70% of songs from this band, kinda too pop rock for me, but i really enjoy more progy ones. Albums PURE and Org are pretty good (last one is harder to find on the internet so).
///
Nyaaaaa!
If you see this, the power of fluffy boys shine within ya \[T]/ *hug*
P.S. Sadly can't change my old username that i used everywhere since... 2014 year? So, basically, I'm Jethro. Nice to meet you!

The last studio Deerhoof is great but I guess everyone knows them !

Deluge Grander's Heliotians esp tracks 2 and 3. The first 6 minutes of Reverse Solarity are among the very best prog I know, the hardcore of "cool" as how I define it !

Just felt compelled to log in and say that Bill Laswell's new album, Against Empire, is one monster of a progressive fusion album.  Honestly, I hadn't been following his output for the last 20+ years, but I love where he's at now!

Btw, is there a viable fusion thread in these forums that I'm missing?

1. Golden Spiral 11:20
2. Tabu 16:16
3. Shadowline 15:05
4. The Seven Holy Mountains 17:56

Bill Laswell: bass, effects
Pharoah Sanders: saxophone
Peter Apfelbaum: saxophone, flute, keyboards
Herbie Hancock: electric piano
Jerry Marotta: drums
Chad Smith: drums
Hideo Yamaki: drums
Satoyasu Shomura: drums
Adam Rudolph: percussion
And if you can't be with the prog you love, honey, love the prog you're with.

Panicphobia - Handle With Care, Might Panic (EP 2008)

Panicphobia were a band consisting of some studio mates I had at musicology. I think they started as a King Crimson cover band, and I guess you can hear that from time to other. Their music is sometimes very quirky :)

Musicians from the band also played on some songs I wrote and recorded in 2008-12.
