The Astonishing thing is, it was my friend's 7-year old daughter who inadvertently introduced me to to the music of Dream Theater way back in 1992 when I didn't know Progressive Metal even existed. My friend's daughter won Dream Theater's Images and Words album in a radio competition, but she was too young to appreciate it at the time, so my friend sold the album to me, and I've been a DM fan ever since then. Smile

That's even more interesting to hear while I can tell that my fondness of Prog Metal, and almost all Metal, began to come 15 years later, and it took some years before it became some bigger. Smile

The Source of most of my Dream Theater CD's was FOPP Records in Nottingham, which has long since closed down. I'm also a big fan of Ayreon and it's my Actual Fantasy that I'll one day find an Ayreon CD on sale at a bargain price at a charity shop or car boot sale. Smile

I wouldn't be surprised if every prog fan has at least one Miles Davis album in their music collection. Smile

As for The Doors, that's a matter of perception. Wink

I quick check of my database determines that about 40% of my collection is Avant, Zeuhl & Experimental Jazz, that's about 1,000 albums. I have around 100 Canterbury albums.
I have a grand total of 13 Canterbury Scene CD albums (9 by Caravan and 4 by Steve Hillage), so I'm trailing way behind your impressive collection. Embarrassed

Actually, quite similarily in my case, as I've been very fond of The Snow Goose since it release, but first discovered and began to love In the Land of Grey and Pink 2004.

Actually, I guess we're talking about the history of these two bands, as Camel was more popular in the '70s while Caravan gained in popularity in the post-'70s.

The only Caravan album I was even remotely aware of before 2010 was Cunning Stunts, mainly because of the stunning album cover and also the cunning Spoonerism. Smile
