Okay, we've had 1,005 new members join since the last post on this thread. I think it's time to hear from some of our new members, so please share.
What band(s) have you discovered (or rediscovered) as a result of finding your way to Progarchives? I'll add four more primo prog bands to my previous list of Ayreon, A Silver Mt Zion, Fates Warning, and Porcupine Tree -
Dredg After Crying Salem Hill Triumph

MOSTLY AUTUMN!!!!!!!!
Since I bought their CD "Live at the Grand Opera House" it's hardly been off my player. Absolutely, totally bloody fantastic. Even my beloved Camel are struggling to get a look in.

Hi people! This is my first post on this awesome site and I want to take this opportunity to thank the people behind it for putting so much effort in such a f%$&#$ great genre of music. I am incredible happy and thankful for being exposed to some of the music that this site promote, it's been extremely rewarding. I always thought that Yes and Genesis were those cheesy crap 80's bands with lousy songs. It has been my pleasure to be mistaken and corrected. I am in awe of what Yes have done musically. i mean seriously, why aren't there people taking the brave step of creating music like this any more... I'm still just wondering why I didn't turn around and look back to see this stuff before. So yeah! These are the bands that have been changing my perspective on things!!!
King Crimson Yes Genesis Frank Zappa
Really just the basics I guess. But I look forward to getting more! :)

I discovered so many bands here it's hard to chose.
I'll pick a few
Classic Prog: Van der Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant
Newer Prog: Anglagard, Echolyn, The Flower Kings
Prog Metal: Shadow Gallery, Symphony X (PoS would win, but I already knew of them thanks to a friend!)

My whole progessive rock growth has been here. I guess I was looking
for Genesis stuff becuase I got Trick of the Tail and liked it. I also
heard about the Lamb Lies Down on NPR (the website, I would have loved
to hear to actual interview with Peter Gabriel live!). As I searched
for some of the mp3s, I stumbled upon it on it and is now my most
frequently visited site. To give you some names:
Genesis-Peter era
Jethro Tull
Alan Parsons Project- didn't discover it here
Brand X
Yes
King Crimson
Porcupine Tree
the Peter and the Wolf Album by Various Artists-mostly Brand X
I had always listened to Pink Floyd, but this site has really
expanded my musical tastes. I am sure to find more great artists!
Thanks! I believe this site has changed my life!
