Yay! Now we can really get a discussion going- comparing bluegrass and progressive rock intricate playing styles :)
In this corner, Flatt and Scruggs...in that corner, Fripp and Emerson!

Either that. or a real outspoken gay man who loves prog... nope, thats pretty much impossible.. so yes I am female.
Now in regard to country music. There is a big difference between country, blue grass and American folk music. I'm originally from NC.. my father was a pretty good blue grass banjo player.. and he could also play a really mean mouthharp. I just preferred he never sing and play at the same time!
I hated the usual country... Porter Wagoner, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Buck Owens... that type, but I loved Patsy Cline... go figure
I also love American folk and spirituals.. and even gospel. Just don't want Reba singing it....

Hey country haters- I used to belong to your ranks until I discovered classic country...the same celtic and early anglo influences that you'll find in Tull, among others. Not to mention the killer players, especially slide and steel guitarists and bluegrass (guitar, madolin, and banjo) pickers. Leo Kottke, one of the greatest acoustic guitarists ever, was a big influence on Steve Howe- if you like "The Clap", you'll like Kottke's jazz-meets-country sound.
I agree, most country does suck- especially the pop-rock influenced garbage you usually hear. But that goes for most music, doesn't it? The only reason I call myself a prog fan is because I only think 75% of it sucks, rather than the usual 95% in most other genres.
You know what I hate? Trying to read the music credits in movies. Even if you can locate the song you were interested in in that huge list of tiny letters, the channel it's on will squash it into an unreadable rectangle so they can fit in commercials.

I hate country music... I can't help it. I know growing up in the South.. people think I'm suppose to atleast accept it.. but I've lived in NYC for 28 years for a reason.... I don't like Steve Earle either... just to be completely honest...hehehe
I also hate screaming female singers.. you know.. the Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey's of the world... Celine..Beyonce... they all suck!
Oh.. I feel so much better now...

I'll fire up the Bar-be and ice up the Bass and Newcastle | "ice up the Bass & Newcastle........" YOU DAMNED HEATHEN! These are fine British ales you are talking about - and you're putting them on ice!?! You lose all the flavour...... (gasp, splutter, goes puce in face....) 2 to 3 degrees below room temperature - that's all! I can see I'm needed over there for beer education classes. "ice up the Bass & Newcastle........" ***tut, tut, tut*** Oh - by the way - tiger prawns & a T-bone (very rare) on the barbie for me.... |
Tiger prawns and T-bones, as well as a Filet Mignon (for me) are awaiting your arrival. Sorry about the ice , I so dearly require training regarding the proper temperature for said ale. I do like a stout to be a bit warm, enhances the flavors.... but oh, we'll work it out. What about pool, you play? I've a beer swirling Brother-in-law who'd enjoy a few games of 9 ball. What say?
Bach's organ? I hate it when you talk dirty Cert. Nasty man, ye!!!
