I was searching for something else when I came across this little "gem": http://www.wikihow.com/Enjoy-Progressive-RockApparently I've been doing it all wrong over the years. According to this, before enjoying the music I have to understand all the complex genres and sub-genres.
They recommend to get into progressive rock you start out with Genesis - mainly the 80s songs. (Were they prog? Oh wait, we've done that argument before). I don't know whether to laugh or cry with this article, it seems so patronising. Progressive rock for dummies? I'm trying to work out what sort of person sits down and thinks "I'm going to try getting into Progressive Rock. Let's look on the internet to find out how." Oh and apparently drugs have nothing to do with it (see the end). Never thought they did, having been into it for 35 years and never taken anything stronger than alcohol  Opinions?
