I hope it's not too late to join this club. The reasons why I should be accepted as a member are:
1. If I had more free time, I would be able to write better short stories than Kafka. 2. My nose looks relatively large to me, but I can hardly fit any coins in it. 3. I have a long hair because I refuse to pay for having it cut. 4. I rarely wear a pocket watch, but when I do, I enjoy it immensely. 5. There's something stuck between my teeth. Also, I'm highly intelligent. |

well, if The Whistler really wants to shove a penis up his nose... who am I to say no? I don't know what a grenouille is If can't find an intelligent, attractive, lead singer then we could just get an intelligent lead singer and we could all wear bags over our heads |

No problems, man - here, you can have my hand-crafted buffalo penis Mongolian Nose flute - but the grenouille remains mine, unless anyone else actually knows what it is.

HEY! What's all this talk of pretentiousness and weird instrumentation? That's our turf, so unless you want to start sumpthin', just back off man!

I think that being pretentious and intelligent - and really, really smug carries a sex appeal all of its own.
I really hope I'm not alone in this, or bang goes my reputation.
As everyone knows, you're either beautiful or intelligent - so maybe we need to open this thread up to beautiful people (besides me) too?
I could sing - but unfortunately I'm trained up to UK grade 8, have perfect pitch, and I used to teach singing - hence absolutely no good for a rock band.
There is such a thing as a Mongolian nose flute - I just carved one out of a (Mongolian)buffalo penis.
Beginning to wish I hadn't volunteered to play it though... at least I have the Reading, which is a very BIG instrument.
I also have a clay grenouille (bet you've never heard of one of those either... ). Edited by Certif1ed - May 07 2007 at 03:34 |

Thanks again.
I don't suppose you know of any way I can get my poems to a larger and more - let me say - appreciative audience? The thing is, all these poems are Creative Commons, so I'm not sure how I stand about publishing them and suchlike. If you can at all, possibly help with furthering my career in the poetical world, I'd be much appreciative. I didn't think my poems were stepping on new ground, I thought they were just absurd and weird (but with a meaning, of course, none of my poems are meaningless). I do plan to continue on, of course, it's just mood seems to predict my writing style. I did write some new lines the other day, but with me, I find if I do not complete the poem within 10 to 15 minutes, it normally never gets finished. |

thanks, that would be appreciated!
What you said about wanting people to think about or through your poems is a very current avant-garde idea that is being utilized by the Language guys (who are sadly a dying breed). I personally can't stand structured verse either, as it doesn't express anything new. (I'm working on a free-verse verse-novel at the moment, which will hopefully make a ripple or two if I can get it published). Well, whatever you happen to be doing in life, keep writing, you're too good for having such little background to waste by stopping. |

O RLY?
Why thanks. It's a natural gift, I believe. I don't have much history in reading poetry, really. I do plan to read up on poetry though, as I'm still not sure about structure and suchlike, although my poetry is abstract anyhow. I'm not sure which poems you've read, so some are bound to be worse than others. My best ones have been my more more recently posted ones (in my opinion anyhow). Of course, a lot of the poems (especially the absurdist/dada/Wyatt type ones) are only understandable by me. I like to be as abstract as possible and make people think about my poems. I hate straight-forward poems with standard and/or rhymed verses. Although I do plan to dabble in this field myself, just to improve my own writing. I'm glad you believe I have potential. I often wonder, especially as I've had few "hits" on dA (never the best place to post such things anyhow, it's more of a visual place). Oh and I rarely write poetry, just so you know. It comes to me rarely, I don't like writing poetry when I'm not in the mood to do so. I have moments of inspiration and I also find that often I have to be in a more depressed mood to write. I don't get depressed anymore, so my writing has suffered due to it. I'll help out your cause and PM you them all in one giant chunk of text. Edited by Geck0 - May 06 2007 at 23:19 |

wow, you have a LOT of promise as a writer. There are some rough spots, but thats to be expected unless you've slaved away for hours over one line. Glancing at your favorite writers, it is astounding that you aren't enamored currently with the New American tradition, especially the Black Mountain poets (especially Ed Dorn and Charles "Maximus" Olson) and the Language school (Silliman comes to mind). But, the Peter Hammill influence could be responsible for this, he's a great lyricist and standalone poet, though I prefer his lyrics (he has beautiful inflection). I could go on at length, but I should take more time to close-read before I make any specific observations. I can tell that you have a steady hand at verse (you've assumably been practicing for quite some time). One of the best I've met online outside of literary circles. |

It's all in the forum somewhere, under the poetry thread, but otherwise, you can find it at deviantArt. I'll find the link. Found it: http://thegeck0.deviantart.com/ Well I did the online free test twice and I came out as INTP both times. Strangely, my Thinking percentage was 1% though. Let me know your thoughts on my poetry. I'll have a browse of the archives and try and find post with them all in. |
