Not sure what else they'll have to add on to Nil Recurring, already have a CD copy though, so I'll probably pass on that one.

Favourite tracks on OTSOL? Radioactive Toy, Nine Cats, And The Swallows Dance Above The Sun, The Nostalgia Factory, Begonia Seduction Scene, Queen Quotes Crowley, Linton Samuel Dawson (hey, its catchy!), and It Will Rain For A Million Years.
Nine Cats is great. The lyrics are nonsensical, but its such a lovely tune. It reminds me of old school Syd Barrett Pink Floyd. I can see why people would find Jupiter Island and LSD (hmmm, wonder what that song is about?) annoying, but I think they're amusing, catchy little ditties. Remember, Steve started PT as almost a psychedelic joke project.
The only song which really hints at what PT would later become is 'Radioactive Toy'. It's certainly not a bad debut, but just very dissimilar to what happened later.

Not a fan of On A Sunday Life, with the exception of Radioactive Toy (what a classic). I like Nine Cats, but I much prefer the acoustic version included on the bonus disc for the remastered version of Signify, Steven's volcal is awsome, and it inspired me to hunt down the chords and learn it for myself.

From OTSOL... my favourite track is very easily It Will Rain For A Million Years. Absolutely astounding song.
Radioactive Toy and Nine Cats are my other favourites, and I also love Linton Samuel Dawson, The Swallows Dance Above The Sun, Begonia Seduction Scene and Queen Quotes Crowley.
It's a mixed bag, but very enjoyable and fun. Probably a 4 star album from me.

Just curious... what is everybody's thoughts on On the Sunday of Life? Favorite songs, least favorite, opinions..etc, etc.
For a kind of gag debut recording, I think it's very good and highly listenable. My favorite tracks are: Jupiter Island, The Nostalgia Factory, Space Transmission (funny and entertaining), obviously Radioactive Toy, Nine Cats, Footprints, This Long Distance, and It Will Rain for a Million Years.
Very good for a self-taught audio engineer/mixer, lol.

I absolutely LOVE Siginify! One of their most diverse and , IMO, best releases. It was the middle-ground right between TSMS and the pop-inspired Stupid Dream/Lightlbulb Sun albums. Oh, yes. Great song. It, and the other Signify numbers, on the new DVD gave me goosebumps.
Oh, by the way, this arrived in my inbox this morning:
The following items have been sent: 1 x Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize (GREY COVER) (DVD/BLU-RAY/2CD) YESSSSS! I have the standard edition now as well, but I'm still excited about the Blu Ray and CDs! And the lovely packaging!

Signify's great. The ambience. Oh, the ambience! I love the trippy instrumental interludes, and of course the heavy title track, and the beautiful songs like Waiting, Every Home Is Wired, and especially Dark Matter.

Unrelated, I give Signify a good listen last night and again this morning. I really like it. I know there are several within this thread that think it's one of their weaker releases, but for me, I'd probably rank it fourth or fifth. "Dark Matter" is such an ethereal track, the two Waiting tracks are fantastic and the "Sever" through "Intermediate Jesus" run is great as well.

for me signify is probably the best one (cant say for sure because they're all differnet though), and i really like the dark and ambient tracks that can't be found in later porcupine tree, like light mass prayers (completely written by maitland), idiot prayer, and intermediate jesus. waiting parts I & II are also some of my favourite porcupine tree moments ever.

^ Cool, thanks for the info guys. I agree with Porcupine Tree taking a different direction had Mr. Maitland remained in the band. I'm in the majority when I say I love both drummers and think they each fit in with the band beautifully in their own way.
I've said this before but my favorite song by them is "Last Chance to Evacuate the Planet Earth. . . Before it is Recycled" and most of that is because of Mr. Maitland's drumming in the 6/8 part of the song (the last half). Basically, it's one slow two minute long drum fill, I don't think anything is repeated but it keeps the time and just jams out. It is possible one of my favorite drumming moments in music. I also say that not having a lot of favorite drumming moments, but that's something that really sticks out to me as something special.
I've got to go and listen to the Kino CD that I have, when I first got it, I wasn't terribly impressed, though I didn't have an appreciation of Chris Maitland at that point.

PTKC123, it's definatley Gavin playing on Chloroform. I agree, it's a great track that took me a while to get into. I absoulutley love the guitar break in the middle. I suppose the only reason it didn't make it on to In Absentia is because it is similar to Gravity Eyelids.
Anyway, my RED has been shipped, I would love it to be waiting for me when I get home from work today... I want to go home now actually, I can't remember the last time I was this excited!!! But that's not all, next week IEM ships!!!

^LOL! Fripp was the only constant in KC, right? The lineup changed pretty much every album!
PT would have been very different today if they kept going on with Maitland. Not necessarily better or worse (I love their old and new stuff personally), but quite, quite different.

PT could have made some really different and great material if Chris wouldn't have left. Not that their new material is bad by any means, it's just that if he stayed it would have been much different for them.

Yeah, he left during the sessions for In Absentia because he has a compostion credit, and he might've even played drums, on the track "Chloroform."
