Even though I have no life (just kidding, but I am retired), I am totally behind the polls taking more than over a single weekend, with the alternatives, it must be daunting for some to actually listen and make up their minds so quickly, especially those who are still working.

I would have no problem in starting some time tomorrow. I already had a few ideas for nominations when I first proposed the poll, almost two months ago now. We can take it easy, especially as a lot of people are on vacation now, and things are a bit slower.

As for the next poll, I wouldn't mind if it start this weekend and then have the nomination period run longer until the next weekend for voting. While I don't have the holiday excuse, I am busy with work right now, so having weekends to nominate and then vote is good for me.

Hi folks,
Nickie PM'd me and I explained her that I'll not be able to take a poll till October. I've been hanging out here nowadays, but my internet is limited here as I mentioned earlier and unlike plainly hanging out and posting text messages, Youtube consumes some serious MB's. Even if I make the stuff 144p, listening to dozens of songs (think of 15 nominations and listening to them each twice or thrice) would not be okay for me. Also, my time is getting more and more precious as my deadline approaches. I'll probably return to Ankara in October and hopefully join the ride. Kind regards, Özgür |

Good to have you back! BTW it's holiday period generally, so I think no problem if the rhythm is made a bit slower.

As for me, your apology is accepted...we all are in a nightmarish time and it's much easier to have a short fuse between this pandemic and lack of sleep added to it. I am looking forward to what either or both of you bring to the polls!

First of all, allow me to apologize for my rather antisocial behaviour of a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I was going through a patch of bad sleep quality, which always has a negative impact on my mood. I am sorry that you all were on the receiving end of my bad mood. Unfortunately, this situation (especially in the US, where the COVID-19 emergency seems to have no end) is wearing on everybody's nerves. Anyway, as I promised I'd do, I'll take care of the next poll, if Shadowyzard is still away. Are we supposed to start during the weekend?

I know that I had not committed to that date, but I think that I will be too busy at the time. If I can I will have to confirm closer to the date. If I don't confirm, then that will mean that I am focused on other things. Edited by Logan - August 03 2020 at 18:04 |

For me this was great, too, given particularly that I don't listen to that much singer/songwriter music. I have a tendency to like it but not be overly enthusiastic, because I do like a good melody and delicate voices but much is too lyrics-dominated for me. Very good to get an impression of the breadth of the genre. The ladies need their turn as well (I have already two or three lined up for that, interesting given that I say I don't have that much, no? Let's say if they hit me, they hit me big time), but it might not be me who offers this. However I'd be curious to run one on cover versions in two months or so when I can have another spot on the list.

I don't think it's quite done yet, but I do want to thank everyone who came in and planted some great music in the field of the male singer/songwriter poll. So many classics, so much that I had no idea existed. Bravo and brava!

This works for me, for now at least. I'll have to play it by ear though and see how tough it is for me to keep up, but I should know by the 2nd week in August. |

Excellent theme. The only problem I have is....which of the many do I want to post? Edit: After thinking about this, I was coming up with so many different things I could post, so I thought I would narrow it down a bit by excluding songwriters that perform behind a band name, cases in point would be like The Swell Season, The Low Anthem, Iron & Wine and such. I'll just stay with the individual performer performing under his own name (or stage name). But there are still so many I could post. We might have to do a "part 2" to this after someone does a female songwriters poll, which there would also be a lot to choose from. Edited by TCat - July 27 2020 at 09:51 |
