The 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread

Best decision by a referee so far was that 'play on' for Switzerland. 

10 games, no draws and averaging more than 3 goals a game, it's been great so far

Heart stopping World Cup , Swiss win in the very last second , after Ecuador almost scored. Teams are NOT playing for any draw. Its DO or DIE . Epic battles, true grit and amazing skills. Breathless delight. 

I don't blame Leighton Baines at all, his left sided midfield support (Rooney) was missing all first half and was switched to the right in the second to try & fix the problem. Baines was up against 2:1 all game. Why the hell we didn't assign one player to man mark Pirlo is beyond me.

There were some good signs for England, it wasn't a disaster, I thought a draw would have been fair but Rooney missed a clear chance.

I have no idea why the game was played in Manaus in the middle of the jungle, clearly both teams compensated by slowing the game down and were still exhausted at the end. I thought they both played well given the conditions. I'm 'hopeful' for England's speed players in better conditions.

I doubt France will go very far in this tournament, they aren't very good.I'm looking forward to seeing how Argentina play.

Pirlo have good aim

I thought England were rather unlucky. They are playing better now than they ever did under Capello. I hope people don't start criticising Leighton Baines, he had been the best English left back for the past couple of seasons.

What do you think we can expect from France? They recently beat the hell out of Norway (4-0) and poor Jamaica (8-0). Friendlies are different, of course, but I still believe they can do well this year.

 I didn't manage the Japan and Ivory coast.  2:1 sounds like we still have an average of over three goals per game. 

Much better than the start to 2010.

And even though England lost, they had a much better start to this tournament.  (and certainly better than Spain and Uruguay)  It was nice to see the team trying to play football and not resorting to long ball from the goalkeeper.  Italy probably just about deserved the win - its a shame we couldn't sort out the Left Back situation  and it cost us. 

I think, Rooney may not start the next game.  We see.

What Denmark really needs is another Michael Laudrup: someone with a natural feel for the game as well as some brains. Nicklas occasionally has the first, though not like Michael, but I highly suspect that thinking power forever shall elude him. I've seen bushes behaving more intelligently.

Seems like I missed a great game....
Instead I had to watch Knowing with Nicolas Cage together with my sister. Yep you guessed it; it was kinda nice. The movie sucked big time when it suddenly started including something as mysterious as 'whispermen', who are these magical entities that are creepy and faux scary but really deep down inside want to help out some kids. These whispermen all look an awful lot like Billy Idol from the 80s.
What was I on about again? Oh yeah, I missed the match. Bummer.
