I'm surprised about the disappointment comments about the new Wobbler. To me, it's one of the better prog albums I have heard in years. From the preview put out prior to release, I was caught off guard by the different approach from previous Wobbler output but I got over it pretty quickly and absolutely LOVE it.
Same here, although Rites at Dawn is my introduction to the band. But yeah, I absolutely love that album!

Well the new Symphony X is disappointing to me - 1 down a couple more to go . Maybe DT or Queensryche will improve things.
You actually have hope Queensryche will make a good record? I've been waiting to be pleasantly surprised since realizing everything they've done after Promised Land is mediocre or terrible, just in a variety of ways.

I feel that by the end of the year, it will have been a very good year. With Beardfish, The Mars Volta, Rush, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Devin Townsend, Pain of Salvation, Opeth, and many others, I am going to be overjoyed at the end of 2011.

I've been unsatisfied with progressive rock this year, but a lot of great metal has been released lately. I'm looking forward to the new Sepultura album in a week.

Haven't heard too many 2011 releases yet, but I agree that Pendragon's new album Passion is quite good. My roommate even asked to borrow the CD after hearing some of it.
I liked Radiohead's King of Limbs, even though I wouldn't say it was the best thing they've ever done. It sounded more like the follow up to Amnesiac than their previous two albums, IMO.
Oh, and I guess I was more high on it than other people, but I did enjoy Blood Ceremony's new album.
But I definitely still want to get a couple of the releases already out this year, like VDGG and the King Crimson ProjeKct and some of the stuff off the top rated for 2011.
I am also looking forward to all the big name albums coming out over the summer and into the fall. Hopefully, with any luck some of the line-up changes that have happened over the past couple years will result in something fresh for those bands (or at least some spectacular "so-bad-they're-good" albums, I also find those entertaining.)

Well I was waiting for especially Devin Townsend Project's Deconstruction and Ghost, and Shining's Född Förlorare. They satisfied me enough. I like Radiohead's The King Of The Limbs, Ulver's Wars Of The Roses also. Now waiting for new albums of King Crimson, Yes, Mastodon, Opeth and Dream Theater.

Hmmm... I like the New Pendragon, Beardfish, Magic Pie and Wobbler just fine. The one that I think will really be stellar though is the new Oblivion Sun. No release date yet but they have been working on this one for quite some time and I believe they are heading into the final stages. Stay tuned for that one!

that was supposed to be in reference to what the user saperlipopette just said... yeah, about the best stuff I've found in the last year were all those songs in that YouTube yeye neighborhood (German, French and Dutch)...excellent musicianship, great melodies, that PROGresses me a bunch and a great way to learn a few European languages.
