EDIT: I mean, my first reviews weren't much better than FloydFan's. If he would be guided to write concretelly why this album is a must have, you could have a new reviewer in the future. Simply bashing peoples own work by indicating thet they do not "qualify", you hurt the writer, lose a potential resource, and turn the site's culture towards a bad direction.

Eetu (& others),

When we delete (or edit) a review a communication is sent to the reviewer, explaining why the deletion and encouraging/inviting him/her to redo and resubmit the deleted one and make new ones.

In general, the replies are fair and the further development is agreeable - some are now fine PA reviewers (although I won't mention names here).

The communication text is more or less "standard" but we always make some changes when it's the first review of a member or when we realize that the reviewer's native language isn't English, etc.

However, any idea for improvement is welcome! Smile

Yup, so you really have to screen those reviews, but the big problem is the reviewer can reflect in an overly positive or negative way thus wrongly indicating the merits of a particular work. This is especially important when considering many new or more obscure works that don't get the weight of numbers that the more popular works get. This is where you spend your money.

I don't trust the way I review, so I shy away from it as a result.

PENDRAGON — Believe
Review by decogna99

For Your Journey' o 'The Edge Of The World') que ponen la carne de gallina. Two Roads'.

JAIVAS, LOS — Los Jaivas
Review by jvargas

4 stars The album, also named Los Jaivas (aka El Indio) was a huge step forward, in compositions, lyrics and sound quality. The chilean folklore roots mixed with rock appear on "Pregon para Iluminarse", while they sound like Santana on "Guajira Cosmica". The standout track here is the 13min three section instrumental "Tarka y Ocarina", the first can be defined like King Crimson circa Lark's Tongues in Aspic mixed with traditional altiplanic music, the second is an extended almost solo piano section, alternating beautiful and calm passages with more agressive material (one of their keyboard players, Claudio Parra, had formal training on piano, and he shows it here, as the whole piano section is just him). The last section is very pastoral, with harps, flutes and acoustic guitars.

Review by lffm
I find the songs on this particular album to be most enjoyable. Rhapsody exhibits an energy that few bands can match. While alot of the songs really do sound similar this band is extriemly good at what it does. And while this may not impress everyone, it certanly has impressed me.
