I like Captain Beefheart's 'Doc At The Radar Station'

Van Vliet painted it himself

Good question, VB, & so difficult

It would probably be a battle between "in the wake of poseidon", "selling england by the pound", and the pure simplicity of "dark side of the moon", which over the years has become such an iconic and instantly recognisable image.

I'd say Genesis' 'Wind and Wuthering'. Not only my favourite prog cover. Not only my favourite record cover. It's maybe one of my favourite paintings - period.

I'd notice as really good follow ups Yes' 'Relayer' and Quaterna Requiem 'Vehla Gavurra'

I think I'd vote for the cover of Crimson's LIZARD. Beautiful!
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

I still love looking at Gentle Giant's In A Glass House. Even though I own two copies of the LP I still have to stop myself when I see one in a used music store.  What a genius concept. I also like the cover of "Hall Of Floaters In The Sky" by the Hungarian band Omega.
