Frank Bornemann of ELOY - just a little irritating, though I like their work very much. I would also like to get into RUSH's music but their vocalist... what's his name ... has put me off this group.

Just glad to hear I'm not the only one, Raphael. He gets praised a lot, and I simply do not understand why.

hear, hear, I did not expect such a post from a Swede!! Sometimes Roine's vocal is also quite annoying for me.

Roine Stolt. The forced end-of-line vibrato, the awkward phrasing and
the truly horrific pronunciation. Shut up n' play yer gee-tar, Roine.

Agreed. I loathe that over-dramatic, thin tone he has. He's the main reason I don't like Dream theater.

Judging from the results of the poll, "Someone else" is the winning answer, and Geddy Lee wins with Steve Howe - amazing!!

Patrick Lundstrom of Kaipa - his voice really grates! There's definitely some Eurovisionishness about him.

um, lets start:
_Camel's Singer
_Eloy's Singer
_Geddy Lee's screaming style (he actually has a good voice)
_All of Dream Theater's singers ... I'd rather have Portnoy sing (althrough Labrie has a good voice when he sings in a mellow tone)
_Neal Morse when he doesn't sing mellow (the ending of Temple of The Living God pt1 is awful)
_Singer of Glass Hammer
_Steve Howe of course
_Peter Hamill (he's talented, but I don't like his voice nor his band)
_Those singers of Gentle Giant ... jeez
_Charly Garcia (After the 80s)
_Chris Squires singing alone
_Crucis' singer.
umm, that's all I could think of for now.

I've been rude about Geddy Lee enough today so I'll lay of him for a while. Instead, I'm going to stick the boot into Thijs van Leer circa "In and Out of Focus" - truly unlistenable!

I'd say Jon Ander son. His voice just sounds expressionless to me and it definitely is rangeless (Not to mention I think it's extremely cheesy).
And come on, you can't deny the range of Peter Hammill.

Maybe it's just a matter of taste but some strange voices match
perfectly with an especific music... Peter Gabriel hasn't a great
voice, but they make music for his tones... I don't like Geddy Lee as a
singer but almost every Rush album sounds great for me... I insist,
it's just a matter of taste... |
most people know it is simply a question of taste. Geddy's vocals
while at times are.... entertaining hahah... are as much a part of the
Rush 'sound' as anything else.

What is Steve Howe doing here? He is funny but really terrible singer. Geddy Lee is great - but it depends on your taste.. For me, he always will be one of the best singers.
