20 minute prog epics? How about a 20 minute soul jam? ;)

I want to recommend a band which I discovered a little while ago, they are from Argentina and just released their second studio album, the overall quality of the band really impressed me, fantastic songs / catchy choruses with great harmonies / meaningful lyrics, didn't expect this from a new latam band.

The band is ´Bastian Per´ and their recently released concept album is "Way Back Home".

Anyone else enjoyed this as much as I did?

More people should be checking out the Band, A Formal Horse. Just the kind of prog that gets me juiced up these days, nice and heavy but not all of it is heavy.

I recommend Ehsan Gelsi. Just a couple of hours I didn't know anything about him, then I started listening to his Youtube music videos and I thought "This guy certainly has a lot of gear, makes interesting electronic music" ... There was a teaser for a concert he did for the 150th anniversary of the Melbourne Town Hall which sounded ambitious. You could buy the album on Bandcamp so I went there and listened .... and  ...

WTF ... This is probably the best prog album I heard this year IMO!! Clap

Two twenty minute tracks featuring Gelsi on synths and pipe organ plus a drummer and a percussionist... He sounds sounds like a mix of Vangelis, Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson. There's tons of synths on this album, but the live drums make it a rock album and not new wave. Great melodies,

This is the description:

Melbourne electronic composer Ehsan Gelsi presents EPHEMERA - a spectacular new work composed for the Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ, Moog, Buchla, analogue electronics and live percussion.

Ehsan Gelsi has spent the last 20 years immersed in the world of synthesizers, as a performer, educator and specialist. Crossing genres from techno and experimental to hip hop and electronica, Ehsan’s musical scope is super diverse and has made him a valuable addition to many projects – having toured the world and Australia several times. Ehsan has performed alongside Snoop Dogg, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia and many other global acts, and has performed at Glastonbury, Big Day Out and numerous festivals.

Gelsi’s grand organ composition EPHEMERA is a groundbreaking hybrid progressive work showcasing the mammoth grandeur of the ten thousand pipe acoustic organ in full flight whilst exploring the extent of the instrument’s electronic sequencing capabilities.

The result is a spectacular mix of grand organ fetishism, progressive soundtrack exploration and ecstatic analogue electronica.

The music on this album was commissioned by the City of Melbourne to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Melbourne Town Hall

File under: grand organ / progressive soundtrack / ecstatic electronica

Equipment: Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ, Moog System 55, Moog Matriarch, Novation Summit, Buchla 200e, Eurorack Modular

You can listen to the full album here: https://heavymachineryrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ephemera

And here's the full concert:

While browsing random artists on PA I found the Tadj Mahall Gates by Aside Beside (their sole album unfortunately) It's on YouTube Topic.
Amazing jazzy symphonic-esque prog stuff. The singer sounds like a cross between Peter Gabriel and Roine Stolt. Check it out!
