I think Porcupine Tree are better to create music as a group, thought musicians are way better in DT.  But the music of PT is more original and different, while DT sounds oftenly the same IMO.

Dream Theater has such amazing song writing capabilities, not say that PT doesnt, but I enjoyed the writing in DT much more.
Strangers passing in the street by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand and lead you through the land and help me understand the best I can

Porcupine Tree, i like DT a lot but I really love the music and the lyrics of PT

"I need you more that you can know ... and if I hurt myself it's just for show"

i agree that PT isn't really metal. DT is far harder to get bored of, so i voted for it, but porcupine tree are still one of my favorite bands
When will you come convulsing to my basement?

Strange comparison:

  • Dream Theater: 100% Prog Metal band that could be placed nowhere else.
  • Porcupine Tree; Mainly Neo Psychedelia band that defies any real categorization.

Compare Dream Theater with Symphony X or the hundreed of Prog Metal bands that have been added.

Or Porcupine Tree with Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, etc.

This is absurd.

I agree with what both Miracle and King of Loss said above me.

And, Dream Theater.
