The first one wins for me with Knife Edge and Take a Pebble being absoloute standouts.I have two major regrets in my musical life, not seeing ELP live and missing The Lamb lies Down tour

I voted Tarkus but I should say it is my favourite ELP album at the moment..
I still have some exploring to do. I only really know Tarkus, the debut album and Emerson Lake & Powell well. I have BSS on order and will probably get round to buying Trilogy. I've heard Pictures, and to be honest I thought it was laughable, although I was quite young when I heard it, so another listen may be called for.
But, Reed, you're right. Moving Pictures is a fine album and ELP will never be as good as Rush, although I concede they have looked as ridiculous!

For what it is worth my favourite ELP album is actually quite short in length:

After BSS I like ELP then Tarkus. Knifes Edge being
their best song IMO, Tarkus suite being their best
extended jam. I pretty much listen to just those when
I need an ELP fix!

ELP - I was disappointed with Tarkus and Trilogy - purely because of the amount of DROSS on both - I am hoping that ELP will give me a little bit more ELP to appreciate !

Jeeez - I got that one right........
However, I still stand by my opinion then, that Keith Emerson was one of the finest musicians of his generation; this does not necessarily mean that ELP are faultless (name me one band who are), but it certainly means you should least dip into their back catalogue for a taste; I think most would find something they like....
Except maybe Reed Lover

Pictures At An Exhibition...a tribute to classical music
and, because of my carrier of pianist and classical musician,a tribute
to my ears also.

I voted for BSS because of the one and only TOCCATA. Amazing!
