Jazz
Classical
Disco
Pop
Opera
Dance/Electronic/Techno
Religious/Church/Gospel
Punk

People on the street not knowing what prog genres are is no excuse to invent names. Sorry that it bothers me. It's common knowledge here on our forum. If I say Symphonic prog, everyone knows what it means. Simple as that.

Until Prog Rock was labeled Prog Rock, there was no Prog Rock. So the whole genre thing is an abstract concept at best.  Let the masses speak.

most of genre names are common knowledge, no matter where we are from.

A ballad is not a music genre, just a type of song. Confused

According to https://musicenthusiasts.wordpress.com/, it is. At any rate, it's a fine distinction that doesn't really matter.

I would say it's more of a category than a genre.

I never thought of anything like this, just saying some of the users here come up with genres that don't exist. I guess I'm taking this thread way too seriously. There are plenty of music genres out there, why not post songs from existing ones...

Since I didn't see anything in the OP that says where the "Genre List" comes from I assume it leaves it up to personal interpretation.
So...
