I'm pretty sure politicians vote for themselves. Anyway, it is not my intention to automatically vote for my nomination, but rather to vote for the three I like best, even if that doesn't include my nomination. But I do think that imposing not voting for your own nomination as a rule would be demotivating. Edited by I prophesy disaster - May 18 2020 at 10:26 |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Start it when you like.
I have a bit of a problem, even excusing my own, there's too much I really like that's been mentioned. Just choosing three would be hard, but I guess that's the challenge. So aside from the Nick Drake (since I won't vote for my own choice), loved: CSI: L'ora delle tentazioni The Shoes: Time is What I Need Foals: Heavy Water Ratso: I Want Everything (ft. Yasmine Hamdan) Parliament: Mothership Connection Anna & Elizabeth: Little Black Train The Illinois Speed Press: Beauty Lambchop: Up With People Favouring that which is newer to me, so maybe so far: Lambchop (very much what I've been into of late), the Anna & Elizabeth is awesome, and my third is undecided -- maybe CSI: L'ora delle tentazioni, but the Ratso is kind of what I've been into of late. Will see if there are other choices, and maybe my choices will shift. EDIT: I do hope you do another one soon, this is an enjoyable exercise for me. I love topics where we listen to each other choices and hear new to us music (something I've often tried for but rarely accomplished it well with my own topics). I do rather wish I'd been a little more "out there" with my choice as so may already know Nick Drake, I've mentioned it so many times, and it feels like a safe choice. I don't treat such things as contests. Edited by Logan - May 18 2020 at 09:50 |

I hope two more new songs will arrive soon but in any case, even if they don't come, what do you say about starting the voting at 6.00 pm?

I'd be more comfortable not voting for my nomination and planned not to vote for it. That would be rather to much liking voting for myself for my comfort. It's enough for me that I mentioned it and it was included -- that's a kind of vote in and of itself. That said, non like-minded individuals might find it demotivating. 15 may be a bit ambitious, not really for me. I wouldn't promise to listen to every track fully from start to finish. If something seems obviously anathema to my ears, I'll listen to enough bits of it at least to feel like I "get" the song. I'm already checking out other people's music, getting a feel for it, and so come voting day, I won't have to spend so long revisiting the music. |

I would advise against that because I think it would demotivate people from participating. By having people vote for three songs (multiple votes allowed), they will at least vote for two songs that aren't their own. |

Yeah, 15 seemed to me as betting a bit too much on loads of people turning up in this non-prog area of the forum, and also, as good as listening to new music always is, I find the time to go through 10 much easier than through 15.

I agree. And I'd put another rule: it is not allowed to vote for your own song.

You vote for your top 3. Presumably, that will include your own track, but not necessarily. I'm guessing that most people will vote that way, anyway. Some people have even preemptively voted for their own track. |

One question, do we vote for our own nomination in our top 3 ?

Ok, three more songs and then we'll vote!
Three votes per per person, possibly we should write for whom we vote! But first, if we manage to involve three other members between today and tomorrow we will get 15 songs!

Agree. Quite hard to nominate just one, I already have a well filled waiting list. And yeah, some good stuff here!

Interesting thread and tracks.......
I'm a big fan of early west coast folk/psych/country/blues rock...bands like Buffalo Springfield, CSN, Poco, Kak, early Grateful Dead, etc...and these guys ..2 remarkable lp's...imho....maybe this will fit in an eclectic list. They also did more folky blues things but they could really rock. (IMHO The Eagles stole their sound....made it more commercial and became rich) Enjoy... Edited by dr wu23 - May 17 2020 at 21:48 |

interesting idea... so what does the Big Mick listen to that isn't on the archives.. or going by the jist of choices so far.. not a big name band/artist? Hmmm.. well their 2nd album keeps me company in the death machine going back and forth to work ... a big toast to Virginians.. kicking it old school...

I must say I have really enjoyed listening to every single one of these selections. I think we should continue this thread after the first fifteen are voted on. I know I would keep contributing as there are a lot of artists putting out exceptional music that typically get ignored, and since we all love prog, we can all benefit from hearing what other PA members love that isn't progressive.
I vote we continue these polls! Hopefully we can get others interested.

Yes, wonderful song! There are a lot of beautiful songs here. Whoever wins will have to do a penance: explain to us how he discovered the author of his song, and explain the love he has for him, what are the emotions that his music gives him. |
