Hey Guys,
I am currently listening to my very first VDGG album. I had a worry that their name might find their way onto this thread, but....

Which one is it?
Edit.....don't answer that!

look again at the first page......I mention them!

Actually a lot of people have mentioned them on here, IM pretty sure they are the most mentioned band on the thread
|
I think you've both misinterpreted what I said...that VDGG would find its way onto the thread thru one of MY posts, which will not happen.
I am quite aware that, along with GG, they are about the most frequently mentioned band on the thread; I'm just not going to add to their misery.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Hmmmm I don't really agree with that statement. You don't have to like everyone of those to like prog

As for bands I just can't seem to like, they would be The Mars Volta, and pretty much any prog metal except Dream Theater. Dream Theater kicks considerable amounts of ass. I also have to say that although I tend to like Frank Zappa mostly, I could overdose on his stuff pretty quickly.

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Ozric Tentacles is too repetitive and tecnhoish for me. Spock's Beard also sounds to cheesy to me.

I never understood the whole Krautrock sub-genre. The endless repetition that seems to define that style of music bores me to tears. Perfect example is Ash Ra Tempel's...Join Inn. The music drones on while an instrument sputters forth every now and then while a girl babbles on....Why??

I tend to try and FIND things to like when it comes to any band/genre, unless it bores me. So given that, Barclay James Harvest.

Sooner or later every band will have been mentioned here, so why bother anyway?

At the risk of invoking the wrath of Rush lovers everywhere.....I have to agree.
Am also rather cold about another favourite of many on this site...DreamTheater
