go islanders !! if not, wouldn't mind seeing thornton hoist the cup in SJ or the blues winning it would be nice. but there's no canadian teams in the playoffs so who really gives a f**k ?

I can dig that. I would have picked Pittsburgh as well to be honest, the Caps history is too long and too painful to ignore. If there is a way.. they have.. and perhaps still can find new and creative ways to lose where they should have won.

but my heart definitely is with the Capitals on this one.  Longtime fan.. as long as I have been living out here. I will party like it is 1999 if they ever do win it. I fully expect to be arrested for overturning and torching a few cars in Old Town, starting with bosses (a Pittsburgh native) Porsche if we actually did win finally the Cup

^ I picked Pitt to win (the cup) so my head lies there, but my heart lies with the caps. Even if it ends the Ovi no cup memes.

God I hope so...LOL

Here we go again, this should have been final match up.  Will the Pens have the Caps number again and then fail in the next round?  Or will they make to the cup?  Or lose to the Caps and be 1 and done? ....

we all know what the likely answer is. This article says it all.. written a year ago before ANOTHER blown series.  I do hope all NON-Penguin fans will be rooting for us.  Other than the f**king Cubs.. has there been any other team that has ripped their fans hearts out with regularity as have the Capitals.  We deserve it .. this year we do.  LOL

great article btw.  To hit the highlites.. who was the first team to lose a 2-0 lead in a best of 5.  you guessed it.

who was the first to lose a 3-1 series lead (not counting 3-0 comebacks).  Yep... you guessws it and they only continued to perfect that.. including to the Rangers last year.

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-storied-tradition-of-capitals-collapses/

so let the battle commense.... it should be a war. The best two in the east, and IMO the best two in the NHL. Shame to go so early. .but it is what it is. Good luck Pens... and that is the last nice thing I'll say till the series is over LOL

Nice game 7 tonight, come on Blues!

Winner of that series should (somewhat) easily make it to the cup final (and IMO win it).

How 'bout those Mets Islanders, huh?!

First playoff series win since '93, first win in Game 5 of a playoff series since '87, and winning two playoff games in a row for the first time since '02!

Well done, lads! You've made a playoff success starved fan base proud. Clap

Now let's go on and make it a full Florida sweep!

that should be a helluva game 7.  My money is on the champs.. they do have that 'it' factor. One reason why I think Dallas will fold if pushed to a game 7 and we all know the Caps history ... both best win game 6's or both may be in deep..deep trouble.

^ Its never good when you let Philly off the ropes, but the Caps should get it done before a game 7.

Pens move on, but the Rangers did not put up much of a fight....a win is a win.

Settling down now to watch Hawks and the Blues....crap, the Hawks just scored at about 16 min mark in period 1.  Time to put on some headphones and mute the game!  Wow, can't finish this post, game is now tied 1-1!

Nothing beats hockey playoffs, as far as that goes hockey is the best sport to watch live at the arena (even in regular season)!

consider yourself lucky...  you never really had a chance in that one. The Rangers stopped being a viable cup contender half a season ago. However we are setting up here to have our hearts ripped out YET again... if Philly wins game 6..who really thinks the Caps will win game 7. I sure wouldn't. I could see a repeat of the game 7 blow out circa 2009. Pinch

or would if we had any hearts left after the flameouts of the last decade... and we thought that 2010 exit was disappointing...

Blues let one slip away...not good.

Pens up 3-1, if it holds, Mickey may get his wish of Pens vs Caps which should be good.  Pens may have had Caps number over the past few years, but they usually failed later on.  Caps look strong this year, Pens still a little banged up.

Yeah...blues had their chance. Now they are left with trying to sweep the road part of the series or risking a game 7 where anything can happen.

I'll say the blueshirts will bounce back and win a close game on the road and then fail at home in game 6.

Or they will play decently out of the gate and then completely sh*t the bed in the second period... Cry

^ Certainly possible. I'm not a big believer in dallas (no D) but with the wild limping into the playoffs and generally playing rather flat I thought the stars were in the drivers seat. Minnesota found that something extra for the playoffs.

And agreed. As much as I love football, nothing comes close to playoff hockey in terms of excitement or excellence.
