| Well, I am listening to Yes Live At House of Blues as I type this. I trust this is sufficiently glorious, unless, of course, you could make some glorious suggestions adequately glorious for this glorious purpose

Hi Tom, although I'm a keyboard player, bass is often the instrument I zone in on when listening, and none more than Chris Squire. And the backing vocals too were, and are, always so interesting and creative as well. I'm also glad Yes did H and E which has some great tracks, but "Fly From Here" is even better--I put it on the other night and I think it really holds up as a great album in the second half of their career. I can barely put into words how much Chris Squire's work has meant to me over the years as a musician and very much wish we had many more years of him around! But, thankful for the legacy of course.

Yes, it is definitely good. If it were a Yes album I suspect it would scrape into the Top 10.

John was good buddies with Chris Squire, bassist from Yes...We hung out with him a lot at NAMM shows. |
RIP both of great bassists.

As some written tributes by Wakeman, Rabin and others that I have read in Facebook said, "this is the end of an era", maybe the end of YES ,with Chris Squire being the only original member of the band that still was in the band since 1968. Maybe they are going to carry on for a time without Squire to fill the previously contracted tour dates. Who knows? I can`t imagine a YES band without Squire lasting more than these planned tours for 2015-2016. Or maybe they are finally going to cancel them. Anyway, the band could never be the same without him.

Well put...I can't count how many hours I spent learning little bits and pieces of Gates of Delirium, Tales side 1, and On the Silent Wings of Freedom...and all Chris charged me was the price of the album

Yes, I was. I was certain their paths had crossed at least once, somewhere, sometime. I guess not.

^Wonderful tributes, Charles. Thanks for posting them. I'm surprised with how Squire's death has hit me today. Perhaps it's a case too many icons passing away recently. Sort of like seeing all of your old school friends pass away. A very tough day for me, so thanks again for posting these tributes. I truly appreciate it. |
You are very welcome regarding the Yes World tributes! I see that more tributes are being constantly added, so keep an eye on that link.
I'm at peace with his passing...we've lost so many good friends recently. I'm glad he didn't linger on in pain and misery.
RIP, Christopher Squire, and thanks for the many bass lessons you gave to me!

p.s. Thanks for pointing out the "longest tenure" aspect of White! I tend to forget Howe's stint in Asia for some reason! |
Thanks for posting--it's a wonderful list to read.
