I didn't want to do it too soon, nor also too late.  Africa was a lovely place to visit.

Sounds good!

I still need to vote in the Africa poll, which I really enjoyed. Have to make up my mind on a third. Been busy with work.

If there are no objections, I would like to open my poll tomorrow, Friday 13th, lol. Let me know if I should hold off until Monday, but then there is less listening time for people.

Let me know, I am flexible either way.  Great African poll, btw, as all of these have been!Smile

Thank you Raff. Embarrassed

You're all so kind...

As I said, I guessed the intensity of the earhtquake right, that is just below a destructive one. Thus, I didn't panic.

Sorry not to have chimed in earlier, but these days I'm trying to stay away from posting in the forums. I'm glad you are OK, Özgür! Earthquakes are scary, even when they don't do any substantial damage. I felt a few when living in Italy, but the one we had in the DC metro area in 2011 really scared me.

^ I was living in San Francisco during the Loma Ptrieta. The intensity depended on your location. We were on landfill so it was very intense, the whole 3 story structure almost came apart.

I felt a few quakes too being from California. Though the strongest was a 7.1 in Japan when I was visiting relatives in 1982. I was in the Bay Area for the 6.9 Loma Prieta in 1989. Didn't feel the one Nickie referred to, but felt the 6.7 Northridge though I was 150 miles away in San Diego at the time. Good to hear you are ok Özgür.

I wasn't going to say how much worse it would be, with the buildings there....So extra glad you're OK.

In Turkey, most of our buildings are crap. So a 7.2 would cause thousands of deaths here, I guess.

Tank you, Nickie. Always kind and thoughtful, you are. Embarrassed

Good to hear you are doing OK....I've been through a lot of quakes, being a native Californian, largest was a 7.3 in 1992, so I have an idea of how shaky you got.  That's way too close for comfort!

Did you hear the earthquake that happened today? The red dot is its epicentre, and I'm now in Davutlar/Kuşadası, which can be seen on the map if you look to the dot's right. Its magnitude is said to be 6.9 or 7. It's the biggest one I've ever experienced. I wasn't scared, nor did I panic in the least. As, my aunt had told me about the biggest "recent" (in 1999) earthquake in Turkey that they went through. If I had seen the bending and twisting of the walls as she described, I could've jumped out of my balcony. Haha.

The theme is Africa (that is: songs from Africa or inspired by African music - like the Latin American poll we had earlier).
