Damenbart is another of those groups. it's a side project from a couple of H.N.A.S. members (a popular underground experiment/industrial group out of Germany in the '80's) released in '88. doesn't take anything away from the music, they certainly nailed the krautrock sound, especially in the re-issue. In general most (if not all) the releases on the Psi-fi label (home to both Golem & Pyramid) are such examples http://rateyourmusic.com/label/psi_fi/

What's that album like? I have the first four albums, and I love the first two to death, so I bought Ravvivando and wasn't a huge fan. I definitely have not decided to give up on their later works though, so I'm wondering what I might like to try next.

I've heard most of Faust's latter-day albums (was just listening to one now, in fact), and can say for the most part that I like them all.  They can be a bit one-sided, picking up where the song "Krautrock" and the "Munic and Elsewhere" album left off, that is to say, harsh distorted pummeling jams.  Ravvivando is pretty typical of this approach.  If you like the more unpredictable, eclectic nature of the first two albums, then I can see where this stuff might seem underwhelming.  C'est Com... Com...Complique is probably the most contemplative and texured latter-day album, with some more soothing Stereolab-like moments, and less of the harshness.  One you might enjoy is "Patchwork", which takes the fragment/collage approach of The Faust Tapes and brings it up to date.  I first expected a dumb "remix" album, but it's really better than that.  Another good one is "You Know Faust", which has a more variety and surprises than the average Faust album.

That's a lovely album.  My favorite will always be "Faust Tapes" though.  It was my first, and you know how it is with "first" albums.

Not really Krautrock, but very relaxing music. Plus a cool video.

Hey there Keishiro!
I've been digging your recent reviews as well. You are great with words my friend, and luckily so quite unique tooHug

^ Dunno but 1971 should be one of golden years for Krautrock or progressive rock itself, methinks. Approve

^I've recently been taking an interest in your recent reviews as well. I hope I can get Electrip soon. Sounds really intersting! Also that Damenbart one was really cool. Hard to find at a good price though. I'll listen to this one here too.

What's with so many 1971 electronic krautrock albums having '71 at the end of the title? Or was it just those two albums? - I feel like I've seen that a bunch of other times.

A while before, found another Kraut obscurity Mittelwinternacht '71

Not recommended as an authentic Krautrock one but definitely a Kraut-ish noise ambient pioneer.

At record store today and surprised (delighted) to see Ash Ra Tempel remasters from 2011:

Ash Ra Tempel
Schwingungen
Starring Rosi
Seven Up

I picked up the debut.  Only my fourth Krautrock album, so we'll see how it goes!

Listened to GURU GURU's "Manni And Friend this morning which really is a Mani solo album with KRAAN helping out. And man it sounds more like KRAAN than GURU GURU. Great album. Lots of energy and of course Mani's amazing drum work. Too much fun.

Something i enjoyed this morning was GILA's I Buried My Heart At Wounded Knee. For someone like myself who's not the biggest fan of concept albums i love this record. More of a POPOL VUH / GILA cross really with Florian and Daniel helping Conny out. Atually they've played together many times as POPOL VUH so...  A very meaningful album for me.

Truth be told, I have been looking for this record a couple of times, but I never really got lucky. Perhaps it is time to investigate again - your review certainly suggests that I shouldWink
Thanks David. Recently I always listen to Krautrock obscurities ... Krautrock is my oasis definitely. Big smile

And that's what makes Seger's participation so appealing because he normally plays a style that is nothing like Krautrock.

Yeah I have thought of that too John. Sometimes when musicians transcribe their abilities onto something out of the ordinary, sparks start flying and some of us gets goose bumps - and the following angry letters from the bank...
