Actually, the above applies perhaps even more to David Atavachron.

Yes.
There's like six people playing clarinet and it's just madness.
John Zorn plays on it.
|
Awesome!
BTW, before I was wondering if you had downloaded Last Exit this month. And yeah, it's hard to listen to free jazz sometimes. For a couple months I only listened to avant jazz and 20th century classical, but that was a reaction to being pulverized by pop music at work. Now they've changed the station to something slightly better and I've gotten over it. |
It's just that nothing beats me up more (in a good way ) musically than free jazz - but you have to prepare to take that beating.

That is all I can say.
And no, I'm not listening to any music whatsoever.
Patrick could be very seriously jealous of me soon...

But it's so freakin' awesome!
Can't read much, Beethoven's which?
Mind you, I love him as well. I'm still a sucker for his Emperor.
edit: dumba$$, it says "sonaten"... apparently, I can't read either. I have some sonatas of his. Awesome stuff, obviously.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I have an Amazon account too, so I may just get that.
I need a lot of Classical, I'm severely lacking. All I have is a Messiaen double-CD (Simon Rattle conducting).

If I was starting a Clasical collection, I wouldn't start with Messiaen...
given your tastes, I think Shostakovich would be right up your street...have a word with Riccy...but I've taken the liberty of suggesting one fabulous, mid priced recording you might enjoy...
they don't come much more Avant than that...
right, off to bed...

We got about 4 inches so far, but no ice (no thank you, I've lived through the 1998 ice storm, don't need any more of that). Weather report says the wind is supposed to start blowing like mad.
Must be the same storm that came up here.

Must-Have: Orff's Carmina Burana
Personal Recommendation for today: Camille St-Saens's La Danse Macabre.

It's official: worst drive home since I started driving.
Can't believe we sent out the kids in school bus (no belts in those, mind you, but they say it's safer this way) in that kind of sh*tty weather.

Do you perchance know which one slightly sounds likes VdGG's Refugees?
I know it was one of his Oboe concertos but I forgot to note down which one it was.
|
I'm sorry, I don't...I've not heard all his Oboe Concertos, neither do I know the VdGG piece.. but if you were to invest, you can't go wrong with Simon Standage & Collegium:

Chilling, listening to music, and working on homework. I'm also kind of wishing that we could have a third snow day in a row, but it's not going to happen.
