Here's a new Portnoy supergroup that I've cooked up:
Colonel Claypool's Banton Portnoy Project (CCBPP) Les Claypool - Vocals Hugh Banton - Organ/Bass Pedals Mike Portnoy - Drums/Backing Vocals Mike Portnoy would be smoking money at Bonaroo by next year, I guarantee it.

This has been discussed in this very forum, and Portnoy's involvment seems to have been already denied. It would be great though that now that Portnoy is out of DT he would end up joining that project... and if somehow Kevin Moore and Tony Levin would also end up joining, well that would be really fantastic.

Mr. ProgFreak:
Don't think that's so strange. I read a while ago, either on the Porcupine Tree website or on Opeth's but Steven, Mikael and Mike (at the time I read it.) were already in the formative stages of composing material for possible release "at some future date". Could be interesting.

That is a good idea. Look what Gavin Harrison did for Porcupine Tree. |

Metal drumming fails to amaze me. They should get an experimental Jazz drummer.

Stewart Copeland. Those Police and Oysterhead shows are far and few between.

lots of people on their last.fm is trolling this topic hard in their shoutbox. i've heard some pretty ridiculous suggestions that should give you guys a laugh such as Lars Ulrich, Joey Jordison, and the a7x drummer that passed away. of course i nominated betty white. lol

I had somewhat thought about that. As a matter of fact, I have been thinking latley that when a mature band has to replace a musician, it shoud be better to get a new young brilliant member who may be able to rekindle the flame... the rest of the band-mates could provide the experience. The thing is that the new guy must be of the same caliber (as a musician and as a creative force), and be given the chance to contibute to the new music. |
