I would recommend Maria Bamford, but you didn't like her in that other thread. Tongue

I am not sexist. I think many men are idiotic in their 'humor', and on average, I think women are usually more intelligent than men. So why is it than in the Stand-Up comedy world, these roles seem to be reversed?

Yes, plenty of guys who take the mic are just as crass and stupid as any drunk frat boy, but the handful of men who are funny are usually not only funny, but brilliant. Even when they use colourful language and sexual humor, the best of them alway manage to put a new spin on it that makes me laugh from deep within my gut, and of course the messages they give are oftentimes things that really make me sit and think.

On the other hand, it's very rare I find women comedians all that funny, much less making any deeper political or philosophical points underneath the jokes. I'm not saying every woman I've seen on stage wasn't funny, but I am saying that for the most part, the amount of men who make me laugh far outweigh the women.

So, what's going on here? Am I just looking in the wrong places? Am I crazy? Feel free to recommend me some of your favorite female comedians for me to give a chance or two. (If it's sex jokes, or jokes making fun of men, don't bother. I've heard nothing BUT that type of stuff from women behind the mic for as long as I can remember. Send me someone more original)

Thanks. Smile
