Both have vehemently denied it,particularly Pats owner Robert Kraft.
Now the rumor is that the Packers are interested.

wow, someone got beaten up as a kid and never got over it.
by the way, I'd argue most family guy lovers are pricks and most tool fans are tools
you know, its been somewhat funny to see what animals can do to people. here, on this very poll, some of progarchives most well noted peace and love liberals are advocating mauling by dogs as a criminal punishment.

Hey, if Ray Lewis gets to help out with a double homocide and not miss a day of work I don't see why Vick can't come back (aside from the fact he's a very poor quarterback) as he's actually paid his debt to society

The guy paid his debt to society let him play. I swear people never talk about Ray Lewis or Pac Man Jones, but Vick hurts a few dogs and people go haywaire. Where's the justice?
Dante Stallworth is serving a month in jail due to manslaughter, compared to Vick's year long sentence if I remember right? People need to get their priorities straight.

Exactly. There are those who will say "f*ck fairness! What he did is inexcusable!" But so many NFL players have done inexcusable things. I totally forgot about Ray Lewis myself. I LOVE animals, (hell I cant even watch the sad animal commercials on TV). But considering players have been reinstated after shootings, even murders.....and many of them not even serving as much as Vick has. He has lost his fortune, and his name. He is a disgusting man, but has paid his debt. We talk about giving second chances don't we? |

Look at all the players that have been in serious trouble and are still playing.Even Ray Lewis of my beloved Ravens was involved in a murder case, and that man is 100% guaranteed to go into the Hall of Fame.

I hate dogfighting and people that take part in it ought to have their balls put into a grinder.
But....
The man was punished for it and served his time, and he has the right to play now if a team wants him.Have you guys seen the conditions Goodell is making him meet?Absolutely ridiculous!!!!
I almost bet money that Dan Snyder will take him,if no other teams show interest Vick will be playing in the UFL. Edited by TheProgtologist - July 29 2009 at 23:18 |

Frankly, I find it difficult to muster up moral outrage over steroids. If you could take a drug--which was legal and not banned by your employer--that would help ensure your job security and raise your pay, with only limited side effects, wouldn't you take it?

Morals have no place in professional sports. Steroids in baseball, the Michael Vick case, and many other professional leagues seem to be quick to overlook criminal activity aside from a brief suspension. I wonder how many lifelong bans have been handed out to these spoiled athletes?
For baseball: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_figures_who_have_been_banned_for_life I'll admit that I like the occasional fight in hockey, but the game could do without it. At first I thought 100% a team would take him. I mean a team (usually the cowboys or pats) will ALWAYS take a thug.
But so far there is NO interest. Maybe the owners will actually put something besides winning first..or at least they realize the backlash that will occur. Besides, Vick deserves more time than he's gotten but AT LEAST he didn't get off clean. His career is done, BEST he can get is a back up or playing in the wildcat, his mega fortune and face of the NFL is all gone. And honestly, if he ever gets to play I hope someone steps on his ankle. As for the NFL not having to be consistent. Again, what Vick did is f*cking disgusting he should NEVER be reinstated.....but others have. And not just for minor crimes. Doesn't matter. Vick is for all intents and purposes, done with his career. |

Well, personally, I've always thought sports were a big joke anyway, and as was mentioned earlier, people who have done far worse have been reinstated before.
I personally don't think he deserves a damn thing, but the NFL is just as corrupt as any other organization, so I'm not at all surprised. It may not be morally right, but it was expected. |

The team that does take him is going to lose alot of popularity and respect.. But with a minimum tender offer like $150K would be a little funny, considering he was the highest paid player in the league.

Although I don't agree with what he did, and I don't know whether or not 2 years served in jail was a fair sentence or not for it, but like what the IRS does, Vick was used as a big name celebrity by the government to send a message. I certainly don't have first hand knowledge, but in my reading of some articles, apparently dog fighting is a large part of the culture amongst people who live in that area, as well as amongst other players in the NFL. Hopefully, the message has been received, and will be continued to be sent and received if he is picked up by an NFL team. One can only hope that he is truly remorseful, and that he will change his life around, and that he is not only saying these things because his agent tells him too.
