I've always liked Alice In Chains, so this easily wins for me..

While I enjoyed Nirvana, I never craved them. Chris Cornell is one of my favorite vocalists in rock, but they don't come close to AiC for me.

Have no use for Pearl Jam.

How about Greta? Anyone remember them? I never really cared for grunge but I dug them. Brad Wilk from Rage Against the Machine played with them as well.I always did like Chris Cornell's voice though.

If we're going back to the roots, I'll take The Wipers over any of these bands any day.

The Wipers were part of the early wave of American punk bands, not grunge. Wink

That shows how much you actually listen to grunge.
Ever heard of "Ten" or "Dirt"? Ouch  Ow!

Fair point.   Big smile I don't listen to much 'grunge'.  I haven't heard 'Dirt' but I've got 'Ten' and I like it.  I meant Nirvana will go in the history books but the others won't.

Just expressing my opinion.  Wink

Alice in Chains might be my favorite Alice in Chains album. I mean...
"Sludge Factory", "Heaven Beside you", "Frogs" & "Over Now" are fantastic songs!
I just love the slow, psychedelic mood of "Frogs", and the spoken nonsense in the ending Approve

I agree.  Also, the Jar of Flies EP is one of the best things ever recorded.

My vote goes to Nirvana.  Nevermind is perfection in the same way that Talking Heads' Fear of Music is perfection (not that I'm comparing the two musically).  There's something about the atmosphere/production, not too mention hooks, that transcends what's actually in the grooves.

Alice and Soundgarden ain't bad either.

For quite some time, I felt that alternative and grunge were interchangeable, but the alternative label was used for just about anything new to come out after Nevermind and Ten.  Now I believe that Grunge is just a small subset of alternative, which includes most of the bands that I have already been mentioned.  I agree that the Foo Fighters were grunge related.

i voted for Soundgarden as they ar my favouritt, i like also Pearl Jam and Nirvana not familiar enough with Alice In Chainds

Is Foo Fighters Grunge?, i like them very much, what i think is fun is that Foo Fighters dont sound complicated but if you listen closly you can notice the cool Cordprogressions and odd timesignatures.

It's Pearl Jam for me.
Nirvana is so far down the list it's about to fall off the bottom of the page.

(I think we have done this before but...)

Alice in Chains it is (the most ''metallish'') followed by Soundgarden (albums like Badmotorfinger)

Nirvana come last in my books (less creative)
