Oh dear.
This is dreadful news. Hugh was one of my favorites, I really, really enjoyed all of his work with Soft Machine as well as his solo work and other collaborative efforts. Rest in Peace, Hugh, and I hope presently Soft Heap is playing a reunion gig. |

Sigh...terrible news. Really hoped a different outcome would have come out of his battle.
RIP Hugh...tonight Soft Machine/Hugh's solo work will be playing and be dedicated to Hugh (and hopefully he will be listening...)

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

Very sad - I was lucky enough to see him several times in the last few years and he was always a truly progressive musician who continued exploring new ideas until the end. His performances with Daevid Allen and Chris Cutler as Brainville were especially memorable; a splendid muscian and (by all accounts) a thoroughly nice man to boot.

Damn shame. Hopper was one of the primary reasons I rated Third a four.

Just got word from Melo's Prog Bazaar that confirms that Hugh Hopper passed away today, followingg a year long battle with leukemia.
