Iron Maiden one of my fav bands ever, great musicians, great cover arts, great music, great..... The most progressive is by far Seventh Son followed closely by Somwhere and Powerslave, but also some prog influences are asweel on Piece of mind album, just check out To tame a land, what a great piece. Great band, really

Hmm. I'd say Seventh Son, Powerslave, Somewhere in Time are the most progressive. AMoLaD...sure, but it's more like solo Bruce with long intros  . My vote goes to my favourite Maiden album - Seventh Son.

This. I agree with the rest too. But also Virtual XI and The X Factor. Brave New World is a good album, but I can't find it progressive. Harris had it too easy there, three good guitarists and a good singer mean overkill and less fresh ways of writing to adjust to weaknesses. A Matter of Life and Death on the other hand is a record where they didn't have to return to their roots.

It's very well known that Steve Harris is a big fan of such bands as Jethro Tull and Wishbone Ash, so progressive rock is definitely an influence on their songwriting. They've also covered Cross-Eyed Mary by Tull and borrowed some rhythm guitar patterns and whatnot from Argus. Seventh Son would probably be their most progressive effort if not A Matter of Life and Death.

Wich Iron Maiden albums have the most progressive feel?
You can vote multiple!
IMHO all their records are more progressive then the avarage British wave of new heavy metal records of those days. They can be seen as influenced by progressive rock, although I consider the possibility that Iron Maiden just wanted to make very good technical metal more likely. The progressive feel of records like Seventh son of a seventh son doesn't seem to relate to other progressive acts, not even to progressive bands of the seventies. Isn't it just inventive metalsong writing? However, I've been Iron Maiden fan since I was 11 (I found prove of that in my old school documents  ) and I'm still a great fan of their top notch heavy rock/metal.
What do you think?
