I can't vote. The only Scandinavian music I know is from the PA samples that I've heard druing the last four years. It may be easy to vote for Sweden, but there are a few beautiful gems from Finland as well...

One more vote for Sweden. TFK, Karmakanic, Anglagard are all great. Then there are the metal bands which I will never like but they certainly attract many people to prog so props to them.

I'll choose Norway, but in the end Sweden probably has the most quality music coming out of it (A.K.A Cult of Luna). |

The country that brought us The Flower Kings, Moon Safari and so on.
However, Norway is also very strong with Gazpacho and Green Carnation.

^ http://www.progarchives.com/Bands-country.asp?country=92 Here's what the Archives know from Iceland. I wasn't aware that Sólstafir was here, I've gotta add their new album later today...

I think Sigur Ros is the only prog band ever to come out of Iceland. Correct me if im wrong.
I love Sigur Ros, but that's one really good bands vs. Sweeden with many good bands. My vote goes to Sweeden! |

Sweden. The greatest (and probably largest) metal scene in the world.

Sweden. Hands Down!
I have been seeing some good stuff coming out of Norway the last few years, however.

It's funny, Abba probably are my favourite scandinavian band . I don't like metal or anglagard at all. I haven't heard Samla Mammas Manna though so all is not yet lost.

As I still like metal more than prog, Scandinavia is inevitable in music for me
Norway has a very vital (or shall I say dead?) metal scene, yet I clearly do not favour black metal that much and only found few other at least interesting bands from there. Sweden has not only some great metal acts, but also modern prog, yet the pop music there is horrible to me. While I up to now found nothing interesting from Denmark, Finland also has great metal acts of all its subgenres. What can I say about Iceland? Sigur Rós is the only I really like, other let's say post-rocj abd related are not interesting to me. I have to say Finland in conclusion, followed closely by Sweden, then Iceland and Norway plus Denmark far behind. |
