the only place where the tilde is really important is when you are trying to distinguish the word "ano". If my rusty Spanish serves me right with the tilde it means year, without it means a****le. | This is true.
I find it amazing what is says about a culture whose language differentiates between 365 days and a****les by using a mere squiggly line.
