Fracture > Starless for me, but not by much. As for the mother of all long tracks, that goes to Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 1-9. Supper's Ready is still up there, though.

My top ten favorite epic pieces are as follows:

1. The Gates Of Delirium (Yes)

2. Supper's Ready (Genesis)

3. Cyguns X-1 : Books 1 & 2 (The Voyage and Hemispheres, respectively) (Even though they are on two separate albums, I see them both as a continuous piece of music)

4. Song For America (Kansas)

5. Tarkus (ELP)

6. Close To The Edge (Yes)

7. Mind Drive (Yes)

8. 2112 (Rush)

9. A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers (Van Der Graaf Generator)

10. The Musical Box (Genesis)

"Rock is the medium of our generation." - Yes - "Release, Release"

Starless by KC. Supper's Ready is really close for second.

The Gates of Delirium is easily my favorite. Also Sound Chaser from the same album.

SUPPERS READY!

Followed by, from that selection..

Tarkus
Starless
Gates of Delerium

Although Dogs by Pink Floyd is better than those three IMO..

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Out of those it's "Supper's ready", however my favorite "long track" remains....

"THICK AS A BRICK".

All the best,
Per

Most TD music is overlooked by most folks....Pergamon (Quixotte) could easily be listed !

Lunar

That's the price to pay for having excellent taste.

I voted for 'Supper's Ready' but my real favourite is Zappa's 'Waka Jawaka'. A huge brass sound, with a great moog solo from Don Preston and an awesome guitar part from FZ. Magnificent. The 'new' 5.1 mix on QuAUDIOPHILIAc is awesome.

I voted  for Starless. All of those songs are rather good but there's something so magical about Starless that I had to vote it.

I think Supper's ready is good, but kinda boring sometimes, and only maybe 5 or 6 really fascinating minutes.

ps. i have just turned 18! that means strip club time!

You won't want to go there....I heard they play Supper's Ready there.

Completely off topic ive been to a strip club that had a stripper who was partial to pin floyd tunes, and another (i know not prog) who danced to the tea parties psychopomp. Youd think it would make it more interesting, but instead its just really REALLY innapropriate.

OH and i voted echoes. But i like all of the mentioned tracks.
