hmmm again i think  i mentioned such an issue in a previous thread on new artists that keep the fusion flag alive......but will be more than happy to add on to this.............

my interest is not just in pure jazzrockfusion artists per se but those who draw from the richness & spirit of the tradition and incorporate it into their sound:

Tortoise
Isotope 217
Chicago Underground Trio/Quartet
Mandarin Movie
Shining
Supersilent
Phantom City
Audun Kleive & Generator X
Wibutee

i esp love the work of the Chicago-school and the Norwegians.....

I second The Bad Plus.

Also; Helmet of Gnats, Vital Information, Phil Miller's In Cahoots, and a great fusion band from Cuba called Mezcla. The Johansson Brothers move between fusion and prog rock, and if you ever come across a recording by electric violinist Mark Wood, worth a listen. And of course the ever passed-over Planet X.
