So... does anyone know what the cause of death was? Was he terminally ill?

Pip was an amazingly excellent drummer. Hatfield and the North, National Health, Absolute Zero.....
This greatly saddens me. RIP Mr. Pyle.

Oh my god! This has upset me. I saw Hatfield and the North last year and although I didn't meet him myself (I met Richard Sinclair and Phil Miller was stood nearby), I will greatly remember him from this gig especially. The gig was amazing and a huge surprise. At the time of attendance, I hadn't heard much Hatfields, but the gig just blew me away, amazing! Pip Pyle you will be missed. So young too. My own father reaches 60 soon, so it's such a shame he died at only 56. Requiscat in pace Pip Pyle.

Terrible news and especially at his age!
One of my favorite drummers, and one of the most talented. He will be missed.

Wow. This is really sad news and very shocking too. He will be greatly missed. I have the Absolute zero album and I still haven't played it. Now I have more reason to play it. R.I.P.

I only know him from the National Health albums, but I will play Phlakaton in his memory - the greatest phonetic drum solo ever recorded!
RIP mate, way too young.

Very sad.
I've just known and loved his playing for a year or two. Loved Pip Pyle's drumming from first listen. I'll play all the National Health and Hatfield and the North albums I own tomorrow. Halfway Between Heaven and Earth and Tenemos Roads are two of my alltime favorite tracks.
