Well Anaon, a very good friend who has worked for a Dutch electronic prog magazine pointed me a few years ago at this French band ... because of the Trons so thanks for your posts, I have to check out Air Thumbs%20Up
By the way, I am preparing a huge Hammond organ article, similar to my Mellotron article, I hope to publish it medio November by opening a new thread entitled:

Thanks to my girlfriend, I've just discovered the Virgin Suicides soundtrack by the french band AIR, do you know it? Because it's full of great mellotron sounds, really beautiful!!

the mellotron doesn't always have to be graceful and floating as in The Moody Blues and Genesis...in fact it can be down right nasty and evil:  just listen to A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers and mid-70s King Crimson. 
 
I can imagine Death Walks Behind You as a force to be reckoned with if there were chunks of 'tron brass thrown in with the heavy guitar riff.

In this moment I am listening to for the first time "Headline News" by Atomic Rooster ("Rebel With A Clause" package) ...  If Crane instead of the  Hammond (?) had used the Mellotron... Oh my God!!! 

Because this is Doom Metal (or 80's Hard Rock) but very Prog and exciting!!!

I haven't heard that one before, but I think it's on my 90s RPI list with Nueva Era, Finesterre, Hostsonaten, etc,...all good vintage-style bandsApprove

LOL...hey it's a good Sunday afternoon-nap record.  I think some people are put off by the lack of soloing and of course there's very little convential use of drums.  The opening track would be too pastoral for even a PFM album, but compared to the rest of the Celeste album, it comes off like a rockerTongue....but that's exactly why I love it.  The mellotron waves on the second track send chills up my spineClap, it sounds like their tribute to ItCotCK.
