I lost interest in Jefferson Airplane after Volunteers. My favorite album is still Surrealistic Pillow.

I was the main artisan to include the Airplane in PA. Without the help of Garion 81, I'm not sure I would've convinced the rest of the staff. But that came with the promise that there would never be any Jeff Starship albums added.



Certainly JA is my fave 60's band along with Vancouver's The Collectors & Cream.Heart

I would've absolutely loved to include a PA section for Kantner & Slick's solo outputs (they were a couple in the 70's, if Grace could ever be considered in a "couple")

Paul's Blows Against, Sunfighter and Baron Tollboth and Grace's Manhole (maybe the proggiest on pf the crew's ever been) and Dreams.
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

^ I doubt if there are many here who remember Jefferson Airplane in their heyday. After all, I was only eight years old in 1967 and didn't discover Jefferson Airplane until after going online in 2010. By the way, Grace Slick is 84 years old now and by a strange coincidence, Paul Kantner and Jefferson Airplane's original singer, Signe Toly Anderson, both died on the same day (January 28, 2016) at the same age of 74. Broken Heart

Hi,

I think you and I are the only ones that have a soft spot for these folks ... and that special about them in various parts is really cool ... you just don't see folks talking about their music as well as these do, and then go out and mean it, and show it!

Looking at the list I have at least 12 of those albums.

I do wish that Grace Slick would come around ... she said that she was not gonna be some geriatric bitch singing at 60, and has stuck to it ... but I can't imagine her not sitting at the piano and putting something together with some interesting words.  I think she does a lot of painting, not sure.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

It's No Secret that I'm a huge fan of Jefferson Airplane and it's Coming Up the Years now to their sixtieth anniversary, so Let's Get Together and celebrate one of the finest Psychedelic Rock bands of all time..... Today! Jefferson Airplane embarked on their Embryonic Journey way back in 1966 with the release of their debut album, fittingly titled: Jefferson Airplane Takes Off. It's their second album though: Surrealistic Pillow, that truly represents their Crown of Creation. It's all Coming Back to Me now how I was all in a Lather when I first saw Grace Slick performing White Rabbit on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. After all, it was only fourteen years ago. We all need Somebody to Love and I fell in love with Grace there and then back in 2010 (although it was first broadcast back in 1967). How's that for surrealism? Tongue
