Can't agree with you there. What about Shine On, Salty Dog, Home, Barricades?? All decent proto-prog! SM doesn't succeed in the least as a prog album, not to mention that it takes away all the familiar Procol aspects.

Soft Machine's greatest album is "Seven".
The second Mahavishnu Orchestra album "Birds Of Fire" is a bit of a let down after their fantastic debut album "The Inner Mounting Flame".

I agree witn Doug actually. PH, for me, don't have any outstanding albums but Something Magic is at least a prog album. Here I would expect it to have a higher rating.

Going with the contrarian nature of this thread I would highlight their album Three Cheers For The Broken Hearted also. It's the best sort of 'pop' album you can ever listen to. I love it!

Luciano Cilio's Dialoghi del Presente is the best Italian album I know. And I do know the classics...

Nice, I disagree with all your takes...Some of mine: The Final Cut is a great record Selling England By The Pound is boring In The Court of The Crimson King is NOT the first prog album To be honets, I like Leapse, but it has the worst track ever recorded by Pink Floyd, worse than A Spanish Piece

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Procol Harum's greatest record was 1977's "Something Magic"
Gentle Giant's "The Missing Piece" is one of their very best albums.... Genesis-Trespass is better than any Genesis record before or after it... |

This isn't a hot take imo. I've always thought 'The Remembering' was the best song off TFTO

For a start they are an obscure, under the radar forever type of project that are definitely worth a listen. I'd say the songs need more time in the oven with a little more TLC, but what's there is listenable with the tank empty cruising that extra 50 miles... if 114 minutes is long enough to go that far.

I'm not much in with modern parlance, but I believe a 'hot take' is an opinion on something which is unconventional or goes against the grain. I'm not sure how this link fits in to this context... are you saying that the music in the link isn't well thought of by most people, but you actually think it's really good? Please expand...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Boring Dystopia's: The Lost & Lonely Last Son of Nothing! Or their demo album: Lullabies & Other Whims of the Dying Kind. Excellent obscure, groovy and psychedelic business. Long song, too. Good for driving, LSD, or even housework! |

You're not alone in that opinion. In fact, I'll go one more step. I think it's better than those other two, just slightly.
