Looking back, the 1980's were a surprisingly good decade for prog, although I didn't think so at the time, mainly because I didn't know many of these albums back in the pre-internet days, when I only knew one album (Deep Purple - The House of Blue Light) in this poll.

^I'm just happy that in a year when this the best prog has to offer, my personal preferences is looking for music elsewhere. |

I can honestly say there are no albums I dislike in this poll, mainly because there's no Gentle Giant, King Crimson or Van der Graaf Generator albums in the poll.

For me, there are six titles in this poll that I enjoy quite a bit. DCD is not one of them.

Yes. It has the amazing guitar playing of Martin Barre. Quite a solid album, regardless if it's metal or not.

back during the lean years of the late 80's, I thought it was a pretty solid album; loved 'Farm On The Freeway' ...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

IQ - Nomzamo
My first IQ album and it’s very special to me. I know it has it’s detractors, but I love it and it narrowly edges out Marillion and Floyd in this poll |

24 titles that does not interest me and a masterpiece: Dead Can Dance - Within the Realms of a Dying Sun. Of course there are other great albums from that year. Swans Children of God is a favorite. Other than that I don't enjoy much with a PA-relevance. These three would complete a personal top five: Azanyah - The One
The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland Roberto Laneri - Anadyomene |

It's one of the rare occasions when I've actually managed to find a full album by the Pat Metheny Group on YouTube, and very good it is too.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

Allan, with Pat Metheny Group bubbling just under. Earthworks and Marillion also in the running.
