If you missed it, there is a repeat at midnight UK time Friday morning. There is a podcast up now for you to listen to the show at your leisure, and this is at https://progzilla.com/lazland-on-progzilla-radio-episode-2/

Hi Steve. I just settled into the Anderson and Band Geeks album, as we mortals don't move as fast you do. I concur with your review. The only missing point is the amount of enthusiasm that Jon and the band evince on this album. It's definitely a work of passion and joy, and I think that makes the music all the greater. As always, keep up the fine work and know that it's greatly appreciated.

As of two day ago, Stuckfish are now 4 albums in, and there's been no suggestion to include them here whatsoever...not even by Svetonio or one of his many clones lol! This is even more surprising since all the albums are on Bandcamp, though the latest one, entitled simply 'IV', has been released via Rob Reed's White Knight Records label, and there are currently no tracks enabled for streaming. I added all the supported links I could find to the Stuckfish albums on Awesome Prog to make them available in one place, though I didn't bother adding the Bandcamp link to the latest one while none of it can currently be listened to on that platform. The Crossover team currently has nothing in the pipeline to evaluate, so maybe now would be a good time to see if this band could be accommodated here in that sub? I'll see if I can scribble together a suitable biography for them and maybe throw it to the team to see how we get on with it. Edit: Stuckfish are at last included in the database: https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=12801. Edited by yam yam - September 18 2024 at 08:37 |

Published this evening, the third in my "Old Album, New Thoughts" series, this discussing Pink Floyd's The Wall (The Division Bell will follow next month). The premise of this series is whether my 2024 self agrees with the opinion of my younger chappy regarding classic albums. Back in the day, I thought it was the dog's bollocks. What about now?
This has been published as a podcast on Progzilla Radio at https://progzilla.com/lazland-old-album-new-thoughts-episode-1/ This and all future episodes of this series will now be published at Progzilla. It really is rather good. I should know, I've listened to it several times now!

We have a couple of new album reviews uploaded this evening to the site.
First up is a prog metal delight from USofA, namely Forever In Transit and their A Coming To Terms. Second, an interesting experimental EP from Oakland, again the Home of the Brave, Andrew Levin and his Alone, In A Room, With Hope. Therefore, quite an eclectic mix. Can I thank all of you who listened to the first Progzilla Radio show on Sunday and a special thanks and shout out to those who joined in the chat room, which was lively and a real blast. I will be posting tomorrow or Friday details of the repeat AND how those of you who missed the show can get a podcast. Exciting times here, and I am over the moon. Thank you for all your support.

Okey dokey, the first edition of my monthly show on Progzilla Radio (www.progzilla.com) starts this coming Sunday 25th at 4 p.m. UK time (other time zones are available). If you should happen to miss the "live" show, there will be a podcast published just as soon as somebody shows me how to do this.
On the first show, we have music from: Rainbow Leo Carnicella Pyramid Suns Marillion The Echo Veils King Crimson K.A.B. Alan Parsons Project Genesis Yes Dim Gray Inner Prospekt Raven Sad Massimo Pieretti The Tansads Ana Patan So, a nice varied mix of the old and the new, some stunning music. It would be great if you could join me. I will also be live in the Chat Room, which you can join by clicking on the relevant button on the Progzilla website.

As ever, thanks Steve. I am afraid that there won't be a video of The Wall, because it was with EMI/Pink Floyd that the licensing issues arose. It is simply too expensive for me to sort that out, but fear not! The videos will be replaced by a podcast series published via Progzilla Radio, so they will continue. I do very much appreciate your kind words about the presentation, though. Hopefully, you will enjoy the radio show which is starting this Sunday (details to follow on a new post re the playlist).

Hi Steve,
I enjoyed my third (or is it forth?) viewing of your video retro review of 90215. I must say that I was immediately dismissive of the album (I know, shame on me), but over time I've put away those feelings and started to zone in on all the musical styles, motifs and great playing that abounds on this album that could only be done by the members of Yes, regardless of what line up was employed. So, well done to you for getting those similar thoughts out to the prog faithful.
But much more, I really enjoy you presentation as well as the production of these videos. You're honest and thoughtful comments on the music goes well beyond the superficial knowledge that we think we know about the band's dynamics and personal back stories. You really excel at this and that's what's makes the videos so enjoyable to me. I'm aware of the licensing problems that crop up with music, which never seem to make sense, and I will miss the artist video the you mentioned that you can not review. But The Wall is coming soon, so there's still more good to come. As always Steve, thanks for all your efforts which are really appreciated by yours' truly. Cheers. |

Okay, some exciting news for all my wonderful followers and friends on this forum. As ever, I am extremely grateful to all of you for continuing to support my website. I am extremely pleased that this coming Sunday, 25th August, I will be presenting the first of my regular monthly shows (the fourth Sunday of every month) on the incredible Progzilla Radio. Lazland on Progzilla Radio will go out at 4 p.m. UK time, which is 5 p.m. European time, and a few hours before in the good old US of A.
The show will feature a mix of new and old music, an eclectic mix, and my views, so just like the website, except its on the radio! www.progzilla.com is the place to go, and it would be wonderful if as many of you as possible could join me in the chatroom whilst the show is on. More details of the playlist to follow nearer the time. Now, you will be aware that I started the Lazland YouTube video channel a few months back. I have been pleased overall with the content and feedback, but I will be cutting back on this content for a while. Firstly, there are only so many hours in the day. Secondly, as far as my passion for introducing new music and artists is concerned via the Ruminations series I started, I think Progzilla is a far better outlet for this. The audience reach will be far higher, and I prefer the medium of radio anyway. Thirdly, I have run into licensing issues with my Old Albums, New Thoughts series, specifically with EMI and Pink Floyd regarding the third in the series. I won't go into details, but suffice to say that the cost of resolving this is too great for what is a non-earning venture. It is a shame, because I didn't encounter these with the first two Yes videos, which were well received and viewed by a lot of people. Anyhow, the Progzilla collaboration will enable me to continue this series in the form of a podcast. Watch this space. My Pink Floyd The Wall is ready to go out as soon as I am able to upload it, and I think you will enjoy my thoughts on this legendary album. I will shortly be recording the second of my Marillion: A Life podcasts to be published on Progzilla as well. So, these are exciting times, and I can't wait to get stuck in. See you Sunday! |
