It's okay Paul. We aren't the only ones to have their picks not make the top 23. Six of my seven choices aren't there. Ouch

On a positive note, five of my seven picks are in the Top 23. Only The Tangent and Magenta are missing. Smile

I can't stand seeing Änglagård so far behind, so here's my list:

1.  Änglagård

Page three, I had Echolyn in my fourth position.

I remembered someone voted for Motorpsycho earlier, then I realised it was you. Tongue

Hmm I somehow missed Phideaux.  I don't know whom to remove from my top 7 to bring them in though

Good thing I didn't list Djam Karet or Mastermind.;) It looks like Ozric Tentacles didn't make the list either. I also don't think anyone voted for Phideux. I'm surprised Gazpacho, the Pineapple Thief, Anathema, Iamthemorning, The Tangent, Glass Hammer and Riverside didn't make the list either.

I've seen votes for Phideaux, The Pineapple Thief, The Tangent, Ozric Tentacles and Riverside, but none of them have enough points to make it into the listings. At least, not yet. It was looking like I'd be the only one to vote for Mostly Autumn, but thankfully, AlanB voted for them too, so they finally made it into the Top 20, just.  Thumbs Up

Also, someone earlier voted for Kaipa. I guess they didn't realize that their first album was released in the 70's.

Doesn't surprise me much. Their two highest-rated albums are their latest, and still pretty fresh on the scene. A little more time, perhaps.

Here's what surprises me a little more, the following artists/bands have 2 or more albums within or near the current PA top 100 modern prog bands  (a search by selecting every year past the 70's)  yet have few or no mentions so far:

Steven Wilson (just a couple votes, but 3 albums in the top 100. Perhaps when people vote for Porcupine Tree, that sort of counts as SW?).

I'm glad you mentioned Steven Wilson. I haven't counted any votes for SW in the polling as he's not a band, and it didn't seem right to convert a vote for Steven Wilson into an automatic vote for Porcupine Tree. Smile

Sorry, didn't catch that. But it might be good to put more emphasis on 'no individual artists' -- after all, artists like SW have bands that their working with, often including the same members on multiple albums.
I did mention twice in the intro that this poll was for *bands only*, but not everyone reads the intro. Wink

I hadn't participated, and if I had I wouldn't have listed Art Zoyd despite being a huge Art Zoyd admirer. Art Zoyd originally was formed in 1969, released a vinyl 7" single with two heavy psych songs in 1971 (great stuff I think, very different than what came later), released a studio album in 1976 and one in 1979, and also in 1979 it officially joined up with Rock in Opposition. So even if doesn't include the 7 inch as an album, it released two studio albums in the 1970s. I would be reluctant to include ones that had released any music before 1980 no matter the OP's intent.   Eskaton is another   favourite of mine. It was formed in the 1970s. Its first studio album was released in 1980 but it had released a 7" in 1979. Eskaton I'd be more comfortable listing here than Art Zoyd. I love Eskaton, and it could be in my top 7 easily, but as I have read that it was formed in 1970 and it released a single in the 70s, I will opt to exclude it.

Well, fair 'nuff, I was just looking at 80's albums near the top.  Doesn't matter too much to me if Eskaton and Art Zoyd are "modern" or not, the larger point is just that there are a lot of high-rated bands not being mentioned in peoples' lists here!  Confused

Since the OP states we are in "neo-prog" territory, I will stick to that - makes it a lot easier...:

1. Marillion
2. Pallas
3. Twelfth Night
4. IQ
5. Pendragon
6. Landmarq
7. Light
